<br />- traffic law "observance and we feel that it will be possible to carryon a more
<br /> intensive campaign along this line with the additional officers who have been
<br /> undergoing a period of intensive training.
<br /> I During the past month, we have met with representative business
<br /> leaders in the downtown area to formulate a cooperative, ,plan for keeping down-
<br /> I town streets and alleys in a cleaner, more sanitary condition than heretofore.
<br /> At the present time, our street Department is constructing a small flusher for
<br /> use in alley ways as a means of assisting in this program. The October report
<br /> ! of the Street Department lists the re-decking and paving of the Lawrence Street
<br /> bridge, distribution of 5, 120 gallons of RC.4., grading of Arthur, Cleveland
<br /> and Garfield Streets, replacement of numerous drive-ways, culverts and the
<br /> painting of all pedestrian and school ~afety lanes. Two new pieces of equip-
<br /> men t , the power unit 'for sewer rodding and paint machine were used for the first
<br /> I time with satisfactory results noted.
<br /> I In'the Park Department, the painting of the care-takers home was

<br /> I completed in October.
<br /> At the Eugene Airpark the listing of 95 visiting aircraft for the
<br /> month is reported by the manager. Approximately $1100.00 in license and tax
<br /> fees have been accounted for by the aircraft management."

<br />21 The City Manager submi tt,ed the final estimates on the improvement of
<br /> Jefferson Street from 19th Avenue West to 24th Avenue West in the following
<br /> amounts: To be paid by abutting property owners $11,017.52; to be paid by
<br /> intersection fund $2,568.92, total payment to contractor $13,061.80. I
<br /> It was moved by Davis, seconded by Hawn that the final estimates as submitted
<br /> i be approved and the proper city officers directed to prepare the necessary
<br /> ! assessment rolls and ordinances for presentation to the Council. Motion carried.

<br /> baker that the bills be approyed and the proper city officers authorized to draw

<br /> the South side of 23rd Avenue East of Hilyard Street. The Board recommends that
<br /> the request be granted.
