<br />CHARTER AME11])MENT
<br />AN ACT
<br />
<br />To amend the Charter of the City of Eugene, Oregon, by adding a new'
<br />Chapter thereto, authorizing and empowering the City of Eugene, to extend and
<br />enlarge the street and highway system within the City by adding such units and
<br />structures as shall in the judgment of the Common Council be deemed expedient,
<br />convenient and necessary; making connections with the State Highway and including
<br />connecting the Coburg bridge with state highway 99; to secure by purchase, con-
<br />demnation or otherwise within and/or without the city all real estate, rights of
<br />way, property, water rights, easements and licenses necessary or convenient to
<br />said enlargement and extension; to construct any and every structure and appliance
<br />reasonable and necessary therefor; and to issue and sell negotiable general obli-
<br />gation bonds of the City of Eugene in the sum of $500,000.00, or so much thereof,
<br />a's shall be necessary for such purpose, and to expend the proceeds, with any other
<br />available funds, in payment therefor.

<br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

<br />Be it Enacted by the Electors of the City of Eugene, Oregon.
<br />
<br />Section 1. The City of Eugene through its Common Council is hereby
<br />authorized and empowered to extend and enlarge the highway system within the City
<br />by adding such units and structures as shall, in the judgment of the Common
<br />Council, be deemed expedient, convenient and necessary, making 'connections with
<br />the state highway and including connecting the Coburg bridge with state highway
<br />No. 99; to secure by purchase condemnation or otherwise within and/or without
<br />the City all real estate, rights of way, property, water rights, easements and
<br />licenses necessary or convenient to said extension and enlargement; to construct
<br />any and every structure and appliance reasonable and necessary therefor.

<br />~ Section 2. For the purpose of providing sufficient funds for payment

<br />" city, and for all the purposes set out in Section 1 hereof, the Common Council
