Lewis Brown seeking permission to grade and gravel a portion of 14th Avenue West from Washingtop Street to the West line of the alley running North and South of Block 2, ,Hollenbeck Addition, was sub- mitted and read, together with a communication from R.C. McCracken protesting the petitioned improvement. ' It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Hurley that the' petitions be received and placed on file, and the matter held in obeyance pending final determination of the proposed Amazon improvement. Motion carried. ~.~ ~. C\~ ....- ,-" , 37 A petition of Mrs. C. J. Robertson, et al., protesting banning of chickens within the City limits, was submitted and read. Upon motion the matter was referred to the City Manager for investigation and report back to the Common Council. ORDINANCES 38 Council Bill No. 55 -- Re: Standard Fire Prevention Ordinance, introduced and read the first time December 10, 1945, was brought on for con- sideration and read the second time. It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Hurley that Council Bill No. 55 be amended by striking paragraphs and/or sections pertaining to oil heating. Motion carried. 39 It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Hurley that Council Bill No. 55 be further amended by changing all provisions for appointment of inspection personnel to conform to the Eugene City Charter. Motion carried. It was moved by Koppe, seconded by Hawn that the ordinance as amended be con- sidered read the third time and placed on its final passage. All Councilmen present voting AYE, the Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8874. Council Bill No. 70 -- Re: Improvement of the alley between 8th Avenue West and West Broadway from Madison to Monroe by paving, was submitted and read the first time. It was moved by Koppe, seconded by Hawn, that the rules be suspended by unanimous consent and the ordinance placed on its second reading. Motion carried. It was further moved by Koppe, seconded by Hawn that the Ordinance be given third reading, and placed on final passage. All Councilmen present voting AYE, the Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8875. 40 Council Bill No. 71 -- Re: Plans and Specifications improvement of alley between 8th Avenue West and West Broadway, ~rom Madison to Monroe, by paving, was submitted and read the first time. It was moved by Koppe, seconded by Hawn'that the rules be suspended by unanimous consent and the ordinance placed on its second reading. MGtion carried. All Councilmen present voting AYE, the ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8877. 42 Council Bill No. 73 -- Re: Levying assessments for construction of Sanitary Sewer on South side of 23rd Avenue, from Hilyard to Harris, was sub- mitted and read the first time and laid over. Council Bill No. 74 -- Re: Reclassification of the following pro- perties (see property description), was introduced and given first reading. It was moved by Koppe, seconded by Hawn that the rules be suspended by unanimous ,consent and the ordinance passed to its second reading.
