<br />A resolution Re: Parking Meters and other traffic regulations,
<br />was submitted and read as follows:

<br />"BE IT RESOLVED by the Conunon Council of the' City of Eugene, that the
<br />recommendation of the City Manager, for the '
<br />
<br />1. Purchasing, placing and maintaining of parking meters on Oak"
<br />Olive, 7th Street and so-called park blocks and completion of metering on.8th
<br />Street, Broadway, 10th and 11th Streets between Oak and Olive;
<br />
<br />2. The placing and maintaining of l2-minute parking meters on Broad-
<br />way adjacent to the First National Bank and on 8th Street adjacent to the U..S.
<br />National Bank and on Willame,tte Street in front of the, U. S. Post Office;
<br />
<br />3. Provisions for two-hour metered parking on Oak and Olive Streets,
<br />and the so-called park blocks. .
<br />
<br />4. Extension of the one-hour parking limit to Lincoln Street on the
<br />West, High Street on the East, 5th Street on the North and 13th Street on the
<br />South, all limits to be inclusive of the Streets named with one-hour parking on
<br />Willamette Street extended to 14th Street;
<br />
<br />5. The placing of stop signs controlling North-South and East-West
<br />traffic at the intersection of 17th and Olive Streets and stop sign to control
<br />North-South traffic at the intersection of Lawrence, and. 17th Streets;
<br />
<br />6. Placing of necessary signs to prohibit lefthand turns at the
<br />intersections of 8th and W~llamette and 10th and Willamette;
<br />
<br />7. Placing a stop sign on Polk at the intersection of 4th and 5th Aven es '
<br />to control East-West traffic,
<br />
<br />Be approved and the Chief of Police be and he is hereby directed to
<br />erect all signs and to take all other steps as necessary to carry this resolution
<br />into effect."

<br />49 A resolution -- Re: Ballot proposal empowering issuance of bonds in
<br />the amount of $500,000 for street and highway system within the City of Eugene,
<br />was submitted and read.
<br />
<br />"BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Eugene,
<br />Oregon, that there be submitted to the electors of said City for their approval
<br />or rejection, at a special city election to be held in the City of Eugene on
<br />May 17, 1946, concurrently with the General Primary Election the annexed Charter
<br />Amendment, being,

<br />An Act to amend the Charter of the City of Eugene, Oregon,
<br />by adding a new Chapter thereto, authorizing and empowering
<br />the City ~f Eugene, to extend and enlarge the street and high-
<br />way system within the City by adding such units and structures
<br />as shall in the judgment of the Common Council be deemed ex-
<br />pedient, convenient and necessary'; making connections with the
<br />State Highway and inCluding connecting the Coburg bridge with
<br />State Highway 99; to secure by purchase, condemnation or
<br />otherwise within ?nd, or without the city all real estate, rights of
<br />way, property, water rights, easements and licenses necessary or
<br />convenient to said enlargement and extension; to construct any
<br />and every structure and appliance reasonable and necessary therefor;
<br />and to issue and sell negotiable general obligation bonds of the
<br />City of Eugene in the sum of $500,000.00, or so much thereof, as
<br />shall be necessary for such purpose, and to expend the proceeds,
<br />with any other available funds, in payment therefor."
