Handshuh and 425 others requesting that <br />the City operate a bus line in competition to the Oregon Motor Stages service, or <br />take over the Oregon Motor Stages service at the expiration of the present fran- <br />chise, was s,ubmitted and read. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Bailey that the petition be received and placed <br />on file. Mot.iQn carried. <br /> <br />A petition from Chris A. Ottman, Secretary Elks Lodge of Eugene to have a <br />26: space reserved in front of their main entrance for the use of members getting in <br />and out of cars and taxies, was submitted and read. <br /> <br />It was moved by Davis, seconded by Hawn that the petition be granted. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />A petition signed by Mr. H. W. Whitney and 38 others filing a complaint <br />27 against excessive sawdust and soot on homes between 7th Avenue and 4th Avenue <br />from Almaden to Van Buren. <br /> <br />It was moved by Davis, seconded by Johnson that the petition be referred to the <br />, Ci ty Manager. <br /> <br />ORDINANCES <br /> <br />Council Bill No. 86 -- Re: Levying of a tax upon theatrical and other <br />! exhibitions, shows and public amusements, introduced and read the first time April <br />28 I 8, 1946, was brought. on for consider.ation and read the second time. <br /> <br />t It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Allen'that Council Bill No. 86 be referred <br />back to the Finance Committee and City Manager for further consideration. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />, Council Bill No. 89 -- Re: Vacation of portion of Mission Avenue, was <br />29 i submitted and read for, the first time. <br /> <br />It wa~ moved by Koppe, seconded by Crumbaker that the rules be suspended by <br />I unanimous consent 'and the ordinance given second reading. Motion carried. <br /> <br />i It was further moved by Koppe, seconded by Crumbaker that the rules be further sus- <br />pended and the ordinance be given third reading and placed on final passage.
