<br />owned property, at 13th and Chambers Streets for a medical center site begs to
<br />repor,t as follows:

<br />OJ That we have investigated the matter thoroughly and considered the repor
<br />oc of the, Planning C.onsult,ant~ s Offi,ce and that we. recommend, the following,:
<br />
<br />1.., That. the, pr.operty. in, qu,est.ion; beginning at the S.E. corner of 13th
<br />Avenue, West. a nd Chambers. Street, ext.e,nding. southerly to the l,ine of 15th., Avenue
<br />'II West, thence, easterl.y a distance of approximately 750 feet, thence southerly to
<br />the South line of 13th Avenue West, be sold to the Medical Center Corporation for
<br />i a price of $25,000, provided that the property be used solely for medical center
<br />I purp,oses.

<br />I 2. That, cond,itioned upon the sale of this property, the Seventh Day
<br />\ Adventist Church, as per its request made in 1945, be'given the opportunity of
<br />purchasing that parcel of land lyin~ East of the above described tract (Approxi-
<br />mately 150' x 334') at the rate of :jpl.,OOO per acre.

<br />3. That should the property purchased by the Medical Center Corporation,
<br />or group, not be used for medical center purposes 'or the center project abandoned,
<br />the land shall revert back to the, ownership of the. city.

<br />'I 4. That the property proposed to be sold to the Medical Center Corpor-
<br />. ation, shall not include that portion. lying in the southwesterly corner of the
<br />I tract, reserved for highway right-of-way, but that the use of the property for
<br />I parking be, granted the Medical Center until such- time as the highway may. be built.

<br />I 5. That the sal.e of the property be conditioned upon .the agreement on
<br />the part of the purchasers not to construct buildings to such a height or in such
<br />a manner as to obstruct present glide approaches at the North end of the Eugene - ,
<br />.Air.park runway." I

<br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Davis that the City Manager be instructed to -
<br />I negotiate with Messrs. Peterson & Foreman on the purchase of certain properties
<br />I abutting the Amazon for park development purposes, provided- that in conjunction
<br />with the Century of Progress Fund Committee. Motion carrie~.

<br />: The Police Committee submitted the following report regarding traffic
<br />51 control.
<br />
<br />II "Your Committee on Police to whom was referred various matters begs to
<br />, report as follows: That we recommend adoption of a resolution establishing a
<br />stop, sign at 2nd Avenue- and Bla,ir.
<br />
<br />2. That the matter of placing stop signs on all intersections on West
<br />19th, be held in committee for further' inv.estigation.
<br />
<br />3. The matter of proposed installation of signal lights on 6th and 7th
<br />Avenues West with, Blair Boulevard - the c,o.mm.ittee< is advised that the State Highway
<br />Commission will make a traffic investigat,ion at these points, and that if such
<br />traffic controls'are'necessary, the State will bear half of the cost of such in-
<br />stallations. Your committee recommends that the office of the City Manager be
<br />authorized to negotiate with the State for the signal light installations if
<br />approved.

<br />4. Your Committee recommends t,hat the Counpil give serious consideration
<br />to a traffic resolution eliminating parking on Willamette Street between 6th and
<br />: 11th Avenue from 4:00 P.M. to'6:00 P.M. on all business days."

<br />matter of the committee's recommendation relating to elimination of parking on
<br />Willamette St. from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on business days to be held in Council for .
<br />further consideration.
