<br />A Resolution -- Re: Authorizing the City Treasurer-to-su:frender U.S.
<br />40 War Bonds for payment of _the same, was submitted and read.

<br />"WHEREAS, the City of Eugene has $100,000.00 of its funds invested in
<br />Series K United States War Bonds dated JOBuary 3, 1945 and due JafluoFY 1, 1946,
<br />and' December December
<br />vVHEREAS, of which amounts the sum of $75,000.00 are improvement bond
<br />sinking fund moneys and the sum of $25,000.00 are general bond interest fund
<br />moneys; and
<br />VrnEREAS, ,the U. S. Treasury Department from time to time issues calls fo
<br />the payment of such war bonds on or prior to the maturity date thereof and that it
<br />is necessary to surrender such bonds immediately upon such call; otherwise interes
<br />thereon is lost;
<br />I NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Treasurer be and he is
<br />: ,hereby authorized and instructed to immediately surrender said bonds or any part I
<br />1 thereof for payment upon and in the event of a call for the payment of the same
<br />by the U.S. Treasury Department, and that in the event n~ such call for payment -
<br />is made prior to the maturity as aforesaid, the City Treasurer be and he is
<br />: hereby authorized and directed to surrender said bonds for payment upon the
<br />maturi ty thereof."'-
