A petition from the Eugene Police Department for an increase in all salaries within the Department was submitted and read. 17 It was moved by Davis seconded by Bailey that the petition be received and placed on file and that it be referred to the Finance Committee. Motion carried. A petition from Herbert V. Frye, Commander, Disabled American Veterans, 18 to rescind City License Fee placed on carnivals put on by the Disabled American Veterans, was submitted and read. It was movee by Hawn, seconded by Davis that the petition be received and placed on file and that the City Manager be requested to contact the petitioners and determine the status of existing contracts between the Veterans' Organizations and Carnival companies for 1947 showings, and to report his findings back to the Council. Motion carried.
