Motion carried. <br /> <br />A petition from the Eugene Police Department for an increase in all <br />salaries within the Department was submitted and read. <br /> <br />17 <br /> <br />It was moved by Davis seconded by Bailey that the petition be received and placed <br />on file and that it be referred to the Finance Committee. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A petition from Herbert V. Frye, Commander, Disabled American Veterans, <br />18 to rescind City License Fee placed on carnivals put on by the Disabled American <br />Veterans, was submitted and read. <br /> <br />It was movee by Hawn, seconded by Davis that the petition be received and placed <br />on file and that the City Manager be requested to contact the petitioners and <br />determine the status of existing contracts between the Veterans' Organizations and <br />Carnival companies for 1947 showings, and to report his findings back to the <br />Council. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A communication from the Eugene Welfare League going on record as dis- <br />19 approving any change in the present City Rat Control Ordinance, wassubm1tted and <br />read. <br /> <br />..----' <br /> <br />It was moved by Bailey, seconded by Davis that the communication be received and <br />placed on file and that it be referred to the Health Committee. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A petition from several disqualified cab drivers for the return of <br />20 restricted city licenses, was submitted and read. <br /> <br />It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Hawn that~the communication be received <br />and placed on file and that the matter be referred to the City Manager for <br />disposition. Motion carried. <br /> <br />21 <br /> <br />A petition signed by Stewart Elder and 11 others requesting instal- <br />lations of Sanitary Sewers in Englewood Addition (area bounded by Polk and Adams, <br />Streets; 16th and 18th Avenues West) was submitted and read. <br /> <br />It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by.Davis that the petition be approved and <br />the Ci ty Attorney instructed to prepare the necessary ordinances., Motion carried. <br /> <br />.1 <br /> <br />~ <br />
