The meeting was called to order by his Honor Mayor Earl :4o;J <br /> McNutt. Councilmen present at rollcall were - Hawn, Davis, Crumbaker, Bailey, <br /> Johnson, Wells and Hanns. Allen absent. <br /> Upon motion the minutes of the last regular meeting held December 8, 1947 were <br /> considered read and approved. <br /> I 1 The City Manager presented for Council consideration the following bids on <br /> the construction of the second unit of the Swimming Pool, which had been publicly <br /> opened Thursday, December 18, 1947 and scheduled as follows: <br /> Stien Bros. GROSS BID LESS ALTERNATES NET <br /> P. O. Box 180 <br /> Eugene, Oregon $62,497.50 $11,640.00 $50,857.50 <br /> John Kovtynovich $83,595.00 $13,927.00 $69,668.00 <br /> 4215 East 17th <br /> Eugene, Oregon <br /> It was moved by Bailey, seconded by Johnson that the bid of Stien Bros. be accepted <br /> and the Mayor and City Manager be authorized to enter into a contract with the <br /> successful bidder, such contract to contain a Saving Clause providing that the City <br /> shall limit the work to be performed under the contract to the amount of money on <br /> hand or provided for in the Swimming Pool Levy Fund and the contract approved as <br /> to form by the City Attorney. <br /> Monthly estimate and approval for progress payment was submitted by the City <br /> 2 Engineer as follows: <br /> I <br /> First and'final payment to R. C. Parsons for construction of sidewalks <br /> on 25th Avenue East from Harris to Potter. $285.50 <br /> I <br /> It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Davis that the estimate as approved be received <br /> and placed on file and that the proper city officers be authorized to make payment <br /> in accordance with the approved estimate. Motion carried. Rollcall - All Council- <br /> men present voting AYE. Allen absent. <br /> REPORTS OF CON~rrTTEES <br /> The Finance- Cownittee submitted the following report re: property offer. <br /> "Your Committee on Finance to whom was referred the matter of the sale of a <br /> 3 certain tract of City-owned property along Fairmount Blvd. begs to report as follows: <br /> An offer for this property in the sum of $4500.00 was received some weeks ago <br /> by the Committee and at that time a counter offer of $6500.00 was made to the <br /> applicant, Mr. Gordon Tripp. However, this matter was then ordered held in abeyance <br /> pending the survey of a possible road site through the tract to connect the property <br /> with the road in Malibar Heights Addition adjacent to the tract. This survey has <br /> been completed and shows that the construction of a road through this tract and <br /> making the connection would be impractical because of the steep grade and curvature. <br /> Your Committee, therefore, recommends that the tract described as follows: - <br /> 'That metes and bounds tract lying east of Block 6, Fairmount Heights Addition ad- <br /> joining Hendricks Park and also Lot 10 of Block 6, Fairmount Heights Addition, less <br /> I that part covered by road right-of-way, being all the land in this particular tract <br /> now owned by the City of Eugene' be sold to Mr. Gordon Tripp for $6500.00 cash, the <br /> property to be conveyed free and clear with insured title." <br /> It was moved by Davis, seconded by Hawn that the report be received and placed on <br /> file and that the recommendation of the Committee be adopted. Motion carried. <br /> REPORTS OF OF:WICERS <br /> 4 A report of the City Manager re: swimming pool bids was submitted and read as <br /> I follows: <br /> "Acting in accordance with instructions from the Council, bids were opened at <br /> 2:00 P.M. December 18 on the Second and final unit of construction for Eugene's <br /> Memorial Swimming Pool. <br /> The bids were opened and scheduled as follows: <br /> ,~ <br />
