IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE BID OF STANTON PAYNE IN THE AMOUNT OF $7,898.70 <br />BE ACCEPTED FOR THE ASPHALTIC CEMENT PAVING OF 34TH AVENUE FROM DONALD STREET <br />TO DOROTHY STREET. <br /> <br />IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE FOLLOWING TWO PROJECTS BE READVERTISED AS THERE WAS <br />ONLY ONE BID RECEIVED ON EACH PROJECT AND IT WAS FELT THAT THIS BID WAS TOO HIGH. <br /> <br />K. <br /> <br />SIDEWALK ON THE EAST SIDE OF HILYARD STREET FROM 26TH TO 27TH AVENUE. <br /> <br />L. PAVING THE ALLEY BETWEEN 21ST AND 22ND AVENUE FROM ALDER TO KINCAID STREET. <br /> <br />5. THE COMMITTEE CONCURRED IN THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE CITY MANAGER THAT THE FERRY <br />STREET BRIDGE CONTRACTOR, MR. LILLEBO BE AUTHORIZED TO PROCEED WITH CONSTRUCTION OF A <br />TWO LANE CONNECTION FROM THE END OF THE FERRY STREET UNDERPASS THROUGH THE EUGENE FRUIT <br />GROWERS ASSOCIATION TO CONNECT WITH 8TH AVENUE AT AN APPROXIMATE COST OF $7500 TO BE <br />INCLUDED IN THE TOTAL COST DF THE FERRY STREET OVERPASS. IN SO DOING, THE EUGENE FRUIT <br />GROWERS ASSOCIATION WOULD GRANT AN EASEMENT THROUGH THEIR PROPERTY FOR THIS PURPOSE. IT <br />IS DEEMED NECESSARY TO CONSTRUCT THIS CONNECTING LINK BETWEEN THE FERRY STREET UNDERPASS <br />AND 8TH AVENUE SO THAT THROUGH TRAFFIC MAY HAVE ACCESS TO THIS AREA AS WELL AS THE EUGENE <br />FRUIT GROWERS. THE CITY MANAGER STATED THAT IT WAS PLANNED TO DEMOLISH THE CONCRETE <br />8LOCK SEED BUILDING WITHIN THIS RIGHT-OF-WAY AND TO REMOVE THE GRAME GARAGES ALONGSIDE <br />THE IRECO COMPANY PROPERTY TO THE CITY SHOPS AT 3RD AND LINCOLN. THE COMMITTEE <br />RECOMMENDED THAT THIS PROGRAM 8E CARRIED OUT. <br /> <br />6. THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY ENGINEER BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE COMMITTEE THAT <br />THE NEW GOSHEN ROAD CUT-OFF WAS BEING CONSTRUCTED WITH A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTED <br />ON A HIGH fiLL OVER THE fUTURE TRUNK SEWER LINE WHICH WOU~D SERVE THE RIVERVIEW AREA NOW <br />UP FOR ANNEXATION. THE COMMITT4E AGREED WITH THE RECOMMENDATION THAT THE CITY INSTALL A <br />30-INCH TRUNK LINE SEWER UNDER THIS NEW ROAD BEFORE THE fiLL IS MADE AND THAT A PROPER <br />EASEMENT BE SECURED FROM THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. THIS TRUNK LINE SEWER WILL BE NEEDED <br />IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS AND PROBABLY VERY SOON If THIS AREA IS ANNEXED, AND IT WOULD BE A <br />, <br />VERY EXPENSIVE PROJECT TO PUT THIS TRUNK LINE UNDERNEATH THIS NEW HIGHWAY AfTER IT HAS <br />BEEN CONSTRUCTED.
