DIRECTOR, STATE BOARD OF AERONAUTICS AND J. v. FRYBERGER, DISTRICT AIRPORT ENGINEER,
C.A.A., HE HAD MADE A COMPLETE STUDY OF THE FEASIBILITY AND POSSIBLE BENEFIT TO THE CITY
OF EUGENE OF THE PURCHASE OF THE WILLAMETTE AIR PARK. IT WAS BROUGHT OUT THA T THE
EUGENE AIR PARK, IF MOVED FROM THIS LOCA T ION, WHICH IS SO CLOSE IN, SERVING THE PEOPLE
FOR WHICH IT WAS ESTABLISH.E~, IT WOULD BE JUST AS ADVANTAGEOUS TO UT I L I ZE MAHL.qN ,SWEET
AIRPORT AS TO PURCHASE THE WI LLAMETTE AIR PARK WHICH IS 4.4 MILE;S FROM THE CENTER OF
TOWN. THE CI TY MANAGER STATED THAT OFFICIALS OF BOTH C.A.A. AND THE STATE BOARD OF
AERONAUTICS HAD AGREED THAT IT WOULD BE SATISFACTORY WITH THEM TO HAVE WEST 18TH
PROPERTY IN ANY MANNER AND WOULD GREATLY IMPROVE THE PRESENT STRUCTURE AND THE GENERAL
APPEARANCE OF THE AREA TO PERMIT THEM TO GO AHEAD AND COMPLETE THE BUILDING AS REQUESTED.
IT WAS RECOMMENDED BY THE COMMITTEE THAT THE VARIANCE BE GRANTED, PROVIDED THAT PROPERTY
