<br /> "A MEETING OF THE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE WAS HELD ON OCTOBER 10, 1951 WITH THE
<br /> FOLLOWING PRESENT: COUNCILMEN CRUMBAKER AND BOOTH; CITY MANAGER.
<br /> THE APPLICATION OF MR. TOM GRAHAM OF THE CROWELL-COLLIER PUBLISHING COMPANY WAS
<br /> REVIEWED. MR. GRAHAM'S REQUEST AS PRESENTED BY ATTORNEY RALPH COBB WAS THAT ORDINANCES
<br /> #9058 AND 9061 PERTAINING TO THE REGULATION OF SOLICITORS IN THE CITY OF EUGENE BE
<br /> AMENDED SO THAT STUDENTS OF THE EUGENE SCHOOL SYSTEM COULD SELL MAGAZINES THROUGHOUT
<br /> THE CITY WITHOUT COMPLYING WITH THE PRESENT SOLICITORS LICENSE.
<br /> THE REQUEST STATED THAT THE SCHOOL WOULD DERIVE PROFITS AMOUNTING TO APPROXIMATELY
<br /> 40 TO 50% FROM THE SALE OF MAGAZINES CONSISTING OF THE AMERICAN MAGAZINE, WOMEN'S HOME
<br /> COMPANION, COLLIERS AND OTHER MAGAZINES.
<br /> IT WAS FELT BY THE COMMITTEE THAT THE PRESENT SOLICITORS ORDINANCE COULD NOT BE
<br /> REVISED FOR THE CONVENIENCE OF ANY ONE PERSON OR CORPORATION OF PERSONS.
