IT WAS BROUGHT OUT,:HOWEVER, THAT REVENUES EMINATING FROM CARNIVALS <br />OTHER THAN FAIR TIME SHOWINGS WOULD AMOUNT TO PROBABLY NOT MORE THAN $1,000 PER YEAR. <br />THE QUESTION WAS RAISED IF THIS WAS REALLY A VERY PROFITABLE MANNER OF RAISING FUNDS <br />FOR 'FAIRGROUND IMPROVEMENTS AFTER CONSIDERATION~WAS GIVEN OF,POLICING THE AREA IN <br />CONNECTION WITH PROPER INSPECTION AND REGULATIONS. <br /> <br />MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL IN DISCUSSING THE .REQUEST TO REVISE THE PRESENT. <br />ORDINANCE PROHIBITING CARNIVALS WITHIN THE CITY OF EUGENE WERE UNABLE TO ARRIVE AT A <br />!MEANS WHEREIN"THE ORDINANCE COULD BE REVISED TO ASSURE THAT ONLY THE TYPE OF CARNIVAL <br />DESIR'EDWOULD BE ADMITTED TO THE CITY WITHOUT BEING DISCRIMINATORY. <br /> <br />THE:CI'TY COUN'CIL IS DESIROUS OF COOPERATING IN ANY W'AY POSSIBLE WITH THE FAIR <br />ASSOCIATfON AND THE COUNTY C~URT, AND MAYOR JOHNSON APPOINTED THE CHAIRMEN OF THE <br />PUBLIC SAFETY, PUBLIC WORKS, AND FINANCE COMMITTEE~ (COUNCILMEN SMITH, CRUMBAKER AND <br />BOOTH) TO SERVE ON A COMMITTEE WITH HERB WELCH, MANAGER OF THE FAIRGROUND ASSOCIATION <br />AND ROBERT 'MCCLAY; ~OUNTY COMMISSIONER ,TO FURTHER STUDY THE APPROVAL OF CARNIVALS <br />WITHIN THE FAIRGROUNDS." <br /> <br />IT WAS MOVED'BY SMITH, SECOND~DBY ALLEN THAT THE REPORT BE RECEI'VED AND PLACE~ ON <br />FILE.
