READ AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />"AT THE TIME THE NEW FERRY STREET BRIDGE WAS HEARING COMPLETION THE CITIZENS <br />OF EUGENE WERE I ~TER~~TED: IN LANDSCAPI NG I TS' APPROACHES AND MAKI NG THAT AREA A <br />BEAUTIFUL GATEWAY INTO THE CITY OF EUGENE. <br /> <br />LANE COUNTY WAS ALSO MOVING ITS SHOPS FROM THAT AREA AND OFFERED TO DONATE THE <br />SHOP-SITE TO THE CITY fOR PARK PURPOSES PROVIDED. <br /> <br />SINCE THE CITY DID NOT AT THAT TIME HAVE fUNDS TO BUY THE ADJOINING LOTS"THE <br />GATEWAY ASSOCIATION AGREED WITH MR. KiNG, THEN CITY MANAGER, TO MAKE THE PUR~HASE <br />AND DEED THE PROPERTY TO THE CITY WITH THE, UNDERSTANDING THAT THE MONEY WOULD B~ <br />PAID BACK LATER. THE CITY HAS HAD POSSESSION Of THIS PROPERTY SINCE THE PURCHASE <br />DATE. <br /> <br />THE GATEWAY ASSOCIATION WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED AT AN EARLY DATE THIS <br />PURCHASE MONEY.
