KERNUTT F'OR A THIRTY MINUTE PARKING RESTRICTION ADJACENT TO HIS STORE AT 6'1 EAST <br />19TH AVENUE. 'IN' HIS REQUEST, MR. KERNU~T INDICATED THAT HE WAS ABOUT TO LOSE THE PARKING <br />LOT ADJACENT TO H1S STORE. <br /> <br />'THE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED THAT THE REQUEST BE RECEIVED AND PLACED ON F'ILE, AND IN <br />THE EVENT THE PARKING LOT A-DJACENT TO HIS STORE SHOULD BE LOST TO HIM THAT THE 'COMMiTTEE <br />WOULD CONSIDER THE MATTER AT THAT TIME. <br /> <br />4. REMOVAL OF' PARKING METERS ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF' 6TH AVENUE BETWEEN WILLAMETTE AND <br />OAK STREETS JUST WEST or THE ALLEY AND' ON THE EAST SIDE or' OLIVE STREET BETWEEN BROADWAY <br />AND 10TH AVENUE (METER NUMBER 66) - TH~ COMMITTEE REVIEWED A RECOMMENDATION MADE ay THE <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT TO RE~OVE THE PARKING METER LOCATED ON THE SOUTH SIDE or 6TH AVENUE <br />BETWEEN WI LLAMETTEAND OAK STREETS JUST WEST OF' THE ALLEY, SO THAT THIS AREA- COULD BE <br />USED AS ADDI TI ONAL SPACEF'OR A' "LEF'T TURN LANE" 'OF'F' OF' 6TH AVENUE ONTO WI LLAMETT.t STREET, <br />BEING THE ONLY METER LOCATED WEST OF' THE ALLEY ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF' THE STREET. <br /> <br />THE COMMITTEE ALSO DISCUSSED THE REMOVAL OF' METER NUMBER 66 ON THE EAST SIDE OF' <br />OLIVE STREET BETWEEN BROADWAY AND 10TH AVENUe: WHICH IS THE ONLY ,TRAF''''C METER LEF'T <br />BETWEEN OLIVE STREET AND BROADWAY ON THE EAST SIDE OF',THE'STREET'AND WHICH HAS BEEN F'OUND <br />TO BE A DETRIMENT TO THE MOVEMENT OF' TRAF'F'IC IN THIS AREA." <br /> <br />IN BOTH CASES, THE COMMITTEE CONCURRED IN THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF' THE POLICE DEPART- <br />M~NT AND RECOMMENDED THAT THE ABOVE SIGHTED METERS BE REMOVED. <br /> <br />5. COMMUNICATION F'ROM WILLIAM AND DOROTHY EVENDEN, RE: TRAF'F'IC AT EAST 17TH AVENUE AND <br />ORCHARD STREET - THE COMMITTEE HEARD A LETTER'F'ROM WilLIAM AND DOROTHY:EvENDEN ~N ~HICH <br />THEY REQUESTED THAT SOMETHING BE DONE TO ALLEVIATE THE TRAF'F'ic PROBLEM AND THE HiGH'NUMBER <br />OF' ACCIDENTS WHICH HAVE OCCURRED IN THIS AREA. THE CiTY MANAGER INDICATED THE CHIEF' OF <br />POLIā¬E HAD-,RECOMMENDED THAT STOP SIGNS BE PLACED ON 17TH AVENUE TO: STOP TRAFF'IC ENTERING <br />ORCHARD STREET. <br /> <br />THE COMMITTEE CONCURRED '~N THIS RECOMMENDATION AND RECOMMENDED THAT STOP SIGNS'BE <br />PLACED ON 17TH AVENUE' AT ORCHARD STREET. TRAFF'IC CONTROL, ON ALLEY BETWEEN 7TH AND 8TH AVENUES F'ROM POLK TO TAYLOR STREETS <br />(ADJACENT TO THt WEST SIDE BRANCH OF' THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF' PORTLANO):- THE CITY <br />MANAGER INDICATED HE ~AD A 'NUMBER OF' COMPLAINTS F'ROMPROPE~T~ HOLDER.LIVVNG ADJACENT <br />TO THE ALLEY BETWEEN 7TH AND 8TH AVENUES'F'R6M PO~KTO'TAYLO~ StRE~T~ ABOUT T~AF'F'I'~' <br />USING THIS ALLEY AND THAT HE HAD ASKED THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO INVESTIGATE THE <br />POSS[BILITY OF' MAKING THE ALLEY "o~~ WAY". <br /> <br />THE CMIEF' OF', POLICE-RECOMMENDED THAT'THE ALLEY BE MADE "ONE WAy"WEST BOUND F'OR <br />ONE-HALF' THE DISTANCE BE~WEEN POLK AND TAYLOR STREETS AND THAT IT WOULD NOT BE NECESSARY <br />TO MAKE THE ENTIRE DISTANCE ONE WAY IF' TRAFFIC ON THE WEST HALF' O~ rHE ALLEY WOULD NOT <br />BE INCONVENIENCED 'TO ANY EXTEND SINCE THE BANK PARKING LOT IS IMMED[ATELY ADjACENT TO <br />THIS PO~TI'ON OF' THE ALLEY. <br /> <br />THE COMMITTEE CONCURRED IN THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND <br />RECOMMENDED THAT THE ALLEY BE MADE "ONE WAy~WEST BOUND'F'OR'ONE HALF THE DISTANCE <br />BETWEEN POLK AND TAYLOR STREETS. <br /> <br />'7.
