ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 21-17-02 <br />of the <br />City Manager <br />APPOINTING SHERRI A. MEISEL AS THE CITY'S ACTING IN <br />CAPACITY CHIEF OF POLICE FOR A SPECIFIED PERIOD OF TIME. <br />The City Manager of the City of Eugene finds that: <br />A. Under the provisions of Chapter IV, Section 16 of the Eugene Charter of 2002, the <br />City Manager is designated as the administrative head of the City, and is specifically authorized <br />to appoint and remove all employees (except as otherwise provided in the Charter), and to enforce <br />all ordinances of the City. <br />B. Chief of Police Pete M. Kerns ("Kerns") will retire effective April 28, 2017 at 11:59 <br />p.m. <br />C. The City and Kerns have entered into a contract that provides for Kerns to act as <br />the City's Interim Chief of Police beginning May 2, 2017 at 12:01 a.m. <br />D. It is necessary to appoint an Acting in Capacity (AIC) Chief of Police for the period <br />of time between Kern's retirement, and the time that he assumes the position of Interim Chief of <br />Police under the contract. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Manager of the City of Eugene orders and directs <br />that: <br />1. Sherri A. Meisel is appointed as the City's AIC Chief of Police beginning April 28, <br />2017 at 11:59 p.m. and ending on May 2, 2017 at 12:01 a.m. <br />a.m. <br />2.
