Ms. Bettman, seconded by Ms. Taylor, moved to change <br /> the status of the bill to Priority 3, Monitor. The motion <br /> passed 2-0. <br /> <br />Ms. Bettman directed staff to monitor the bill and advise the committee of its status at the <br />next committee meeting. She noted she is inclined to oppose the bill if it moves forward. <br /> <br /> Ms. Taylor, seconded by Ms. Bettman, moved to forward <br /> the committee's recommendations to the City Council. The <br /> motion passed 2-0. <br /> <br />Ms. Bettman reported that Hope Marston has drafted a letter to the President and <br />Members of Congress opposing torture and inhumane treatment in extraodinary <br />rendition. She asked that the resolution referring to this issue be included in the <br />committee's next packet. <br /> <br />Jason Heuser-- via telephone -- announced that HB2943, the Toxics Bill, has been <br />scheduled for a hearing on Thursday, March 31, at 1 p.m. <br /> <br />In conclusion, Ms. Bettman reminded staff that the committee had moved to support the <br />change of the LTD Board from appointed board to elected board, and assigned it a <br />"Priority 1 status. She reported that the public hearing on this matter did not include <br />testimony from the City and questioned why this did not occur. Ms. Bettman stressed that <br />an assignment of"Priority 1 Support" strongly communicates to staff that the City will <br />testify on an issue.
