<br />COUNCILMAN SHEARER REMARKED ABOUT THE LACK OF INFORMATION REGARDING CIVIL DEFENSE IN THIS COM-
<br />MUNITY AND THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES. HE FURTHER REMARKED THAT THE DEFENSE DEPARTMENT PRESENTS
<br />A GREAT DEAL OF INFORMATION THROUGH THE VARIOUS NEWS MEDIA WITHRE~ECT TO THE ARMED FORCES, AND HE
<br />SUGGESTED THAT THE ,VARIOUS STATE LEAGUES OF CITIES SHOULD SUGGEST THAT SOME PORTIONS:OF THE DEFENSE
<br />BUDGET SHOULD BE CHANNELED TO PROVIDE VICIL DEFENSE INFORMATION TO THE ~ENERAL CITZENRY.

<br />COUNCILMAN MCGAFFEY BROUGHT UP THE RECENT EtECTION IN WHICH TWO MEASURES, NAMELY, A PARKS CAPITAL
<br />IMPROVEMENT LEVY AND AN ADVISORY VOTE ON URBAN RENEWAL, HAD BEEN DEFEATED. HE MADE INQUIRY AS TO
<br />WHETHER IT IS POSSIBLE TO EXTEND THE URBAN RENEWAL TIMETABLE AND MADE f.URTHER INQUIRY CONCERNING
<br />PARKS AND THE NECESSITY FOR AN ELECTION TO PROVIDE FUNDS FOR PARKS.
<br />
<br />COUNCILMAN SHEARER REMARKED HE DOES NOT BELIEVE THE PARKS ISSUE DEFEAT WOULD BE ACCEPTED. IN
<br />HIS OPINION THE MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO CEASE PARK IMPROVEMENT AND THAT THIS ITEM
<br />WOULD UNDOUBTEDLY HAVE TO COME BACK TO THE PEOPLE AT SOME FUTURE ELECTION.
