WESLEY BALLAINE OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION INDICATED THE PlAN IS A COMPROMISE WHICH <br />APPEARS TO BE THE BEST PLAN IF PARK LAND HAS TO BE USED, AND FURTHER INDICATED THAT <br />THIS HINGES ON THE ABILITY OF THE CITY AND THE CENTURY FUND TO ARRIVE AT AN AGREEABLE <br />SOLUTION REGARDING PARK LAND WHICH IS TO BE USED FOR STREETS. <br /> <br />COUNCILMAN CHRISTENSEN STATED HE BELIEVES THE PLANNING COMMISSION AND COUNCIL SHOULD <br />TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT THE PLAN AND SUGGESTED'THAT THE RELOCATION OF THE FREEWAY AROUND <br />JUDKINS POINT, THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE WASHINGTON-JEFFERSON BRIDGE, AND THE COUNTY <br />PERIPHERAL ROAD SYSTEM MIGHT VERY WELL MEAN THIS ROADWAY IS NOT NECESSARY OR NEEDED. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />MRS. NIVEN INID~CATED THAT THIS PLAN IS DESIGNATED TO TIE INTO THE BLOOMBERG ROAD, IT <br />WOULD MOVE TRAFFIC FROM SOUTH 29TH AVENUE TO THE DOWNTOWN AREA, AND AT PRESENT 15,000 <br />CARS PER DAY ARE USING WILLAMETTE AND HILYARD FROM AN AREA WHICH IS NOW APPROXIMATELY <br />ONE-THIRD DEVELOPED. FREEMAN, OWNER OF LOT 55 IN 2ND ADDITION TO SUNNY <br />HOLLOW, WAS PRESENTED TO THE COMMITTEE IN WHICH HE REQUESTED THAT TWO 6' UTILITY <br />EASEMENTS LOCATED ONE ON EACH SIDE OF LOT 55 BE VACATED TO ALLOW CONSTRUCTION OF A <br />HOUSE ON THE LOT. IT WAS POINTED OUT THAT THE HOUSE WOULD PROJECT APPROXIMATELY ONE <br />FOOT INTO THE EASEMENT AREA. FOLLOWING SOME DISCUSSION IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE <br />REQUEST FOR VACATION OF THE WHOLE OF THE UTILITY EASEMENTS BE DENIED, BUT THAT AP- <br />PROVAL BE GIVEN FOR THE VACATION OF ONE FOOT OF EACH OF THE EASSMENTS ON BOTHSIDES <br />OF THE LOT.
