THIS WOULD GENERALLY INDICATE THAT <br /> THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT IS SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING A CONTROLLED-ACCESS ROAD FROM THE <br /> RIVER SOUTH TO AT LEAST 5TH AVENUE. IN GENERAL DISCUSSION, COMMITTEE MEMBERS EXPRESSED THE BELIEF <br />~ THAT A FURTHER EXTENSION OF COMMERCIALISM ALONG WASHINGTON AND JEffERSON STREETS <br />CO SOUTH OF 8TH AVENUE IS PREMATURE - BOTH FROM THE STANDPOINT Of NEED AND A STILL- <br />CO NEBULOUS PROJECTION OF WASHINGTON AND JEFFERSON STREETS AS MAJOR ARTERIALS, A SITUA- <br /> TION THAT CANNOT HAPPEN BEFORE LATE 1964~ AND MAY BE SUBJECT TO REVISIONS BEFORE ITS <br /> ACCOMPLISHMENT.
