M.E.OTOS <br />REGARDING MERRY-GO-ROUND TYPE CONCESSION TO BE PLACED IN THE AREAS OF SUPERMARKETS. <br />THE PRESENT CITY CODE CALLS FOR A LICENSE fEE Of $10 PER DAY ON THIS TYPE OF DEVICE <br />WHICH SEEMED RATHER PROHIBITIVE TO THE PLANNED OPERATION OF MR. OTOS. MR.' OTOS WAS <br />PRESENT AND INDICATED THE TYPE OF AMUSEMENT DEVICE HE DESIRED TO PLACE ON THESE VARIOUS <br />PREMISES. MRS. LAURIS MOVED SECONDED BY MR. Moss, REPRESENT- <br />ING SEVERAL OF HIS ~ IGHBORS, THAT THE CITY OF EUGENE ACQUIRE CERTAIN PROPERTY ALONG THE <br />NORTH END OF THE TERMINUS OF LONG ISLAND DRIVE FOR PARK PURPOSES. INVESTIGATION WAS MADE <br />BY THE DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION, AND REPORT WAS SUBMITTED AS TO HIS FINDINGS. <br />THE REPORT DISCUSSED THE APPARENT ASSESSED VALUE AND THE MARKET VALUE, THE SIZE OF THE <br />PROPERTY AND THE APPROXIMATE USE OF THE PROPOSED SITE, WITH A RECOMMENDATION THAT THE <br />SCHOOL DISTRICT #4 BE CONSULTED AS TO THEIR LONG RANGE PLANS FOR THE AREA. MR.MoLHOLM <br />MOVED SECONDED BY MR. DEVERELL THAT THE STAFF INVESTIGATE AS TO THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE <br />PROPOSED PROPERTY AND ALSO INVESTIGATE THE PLANS OF SCHOOL DISTRICT #4 WITH REPORT TO BE <br />RETURNED TO THE COUNCIL. SWIMMING POOL LOCKERS - A WRITTEN REPORT FROM THE DIRECTOR OF PARKS & RECREATION WAS <br />READ BY THE CITY MANAGER CONCERNING THE CONSIDERED CHANGING FROM THE PRESENT SYSTEM <br />OF CHECKING CLOTHING AT THE TWO SWIMMING POOLS FROM A BAG TYPE TO A COIN OPERATED <br />LOCKER TYPE OF SECURITY. THE DIRECTOR NAMED THE RECOMMENDATIONS AND ADVANTAGES IN <br />THE PROPOSED CHANGEOVER, ALSO THE METHOD Of FINANCING THE PURCHASE OF THE LOCKERS <br />AND THE PROPOSAL AS TO THE FEE RATES FOR SWIMMERS AND fOR LOCKER RENTALS. MRS.LAURIS <br />MOVED MR. CHATT SECONDED THE MOTION AUTHORIZING THE PARKS DEPARTMENT TO PROCEED WITH <br />THE PROJECTED CHANGEOVER TO THE LOCKER SYSTEM WITH A CORRESPONDING CHANGE IN THE FEES <br />TO SWIMMERS USING THE SERVICE.
