IT WAS THEIR RECOMMENDATION THAT THE <br />:.0 <br />:0 CURB CUT BBEDENIED, STATING THAT THE CURB ISLAND AT THIS POINT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A <br /> PEDESTRIAN SAFETY FACTOR AND T.HAT AUTOMOBILES SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO FILL UP THE <br /> SPACE AT THE CURB. ANY DRIVER EXERCISING DUE CAUTION SHOULD BE ABLE TO MISS DWIVING <br /> OVER THIS CURB IN GETTING ENTRY TO OR LEAVING THE PROPERTY. MR. SWANSON MOVED SECONDED <br /> BY MR. HAROLD RUECKER WAS RECOGNIZED AND PRESENTED <br /> TO THE COUNCIL A PROPOSAL OF HIS COMPANY TO INSTALL A VERY HIGH TYPE BILLIARD ROOM IN <br /> THE CITY OF EUGENE, BUT THAT THEY HAD BEEN ADVISED THAT DUE TO A RESTRICTION IN THE <br /> CITY CODE STATING THAT MINORS WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ON THESE PREMISES, HE WAS REQUEST- <br />I ING THE COUNCIL TO CONSIDER THE REVISION OF THE ORDINANCE AT PRESENT IN THE CITY <br /> CODE CONCERNING ADMISSION OF MINORS TO POOL ROOMS, CARD ROOMS, ETC. MR. RUECKER <br /> STATED IT WAS THEIR INTENTION TO INSTALL A VERY PLUSH TYPE OF ESTABLISHMENT SO THAT <br /> FAMILY GROUPS AND ESPECIALLY MINORS COULD ENJOY THEIR FACILITIES IN A VERY WHOLESOME <br /> ATMOSPHERE. HE STATED THEY ARE NOW OPERATING TWO SUCH ESTABLISHMENTS IN WASHINGTON <br /> COUNTY AND INVITED THE CITY OF EUGENE TO MAKE A COMPLETE INVESTIGATION OF THE <br /> SERVICES THEY OFFER IN THOSE LOCALITIES. MR. RUECKER STATED THERE WOULD BE NO LIQUOR <br /> OF ANY KIND ON THE PREMISES AND THAT VERY STRICT SUPERVISION IS MAINTAINED IN THEIR <br /> ESTABLISHMENTS. MR. MOLHOLM MOVED SECONDED BY MR. DEVERELL THAT THE MATTER BE RE- <br /> FERRED TO THE POLICE CHIEF AND THE CITY ATTORNEY FOR INVESTIGATION AND REQUESTING <br /> THEY BRING A RECOMMENDATION BACK TO THE COUNCIL FOR A CHANGE INTHE ORDINANCE. <br /> MOTION CARRIED. <br /> IT WAS MOVED BY MRS. IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT THE MEMBERS OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE OF THE METROPOL1TAN CIVIC CLUB MIGHT LIKE TO MEET WITH MEMBERS OF THE CITY <br /> COUNCIL AND STAFF AND DISCUSS A PROPOSED NEW TAX BASE AND EXISTING LEVIES OUTSIDE THE <br /> 6% LIMITATION. IN FURTHER DISCUSSION OF THE POSSIBLE MEETING DATE FOR THIS COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> WITH THE COMMITTEE FROM THE CIVIC CLUB, IT WAS DECIDED TO HAVE THE MEETING ON JULY 26, AT <br /> A THURSDAY NOON MEETING.
