Since considerable time had elapsed since the variance <br /> was granted, the Council members wished to view the property again and <br /> orient their thinking on the site, resulting in a motion by Dr. Purdy <br /> seconded by Mr. Christensen to refer the item to the Committee meeting <br /> e scheduled for Thursday, September 26, 1963. Motion carried. <br /> 3 4. Easement Vacation, Between Lots 13 and 14, Block 2, 5th Add it ion to <br /> Highland Oaks - The Public Works Department recommended that the <br /> vacation of the easement be approved. <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve vacation of the easement. Motion <br /> I carried. <br /> 4 5. Renewal of Contracts with Rural Fire Protection Districts - Fire pro- <br /> tection agreements were presented for renewal for the period ending <br /> June 30, 1964 with River Road Water District, Wil1akenzie Rural Fire <br /> Protection District, and Eugene Rural Fire Protection District No. l. <br /> Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt that the contracts be renewed. Rollcall vot e. <br /> All councilmen present voting aye, motion carried. <br /> 5 6. False Reports to Police - The City Manager read a draft of an ordinance <br /> proposed for the benefit of the Police Department in the prosecution of <br /> people giving false reports. <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve the ordinance for future presenta- <br /> tion to the Council. Motion carried. <br /> 6 7. Progress Report Sewer Construction Program- Copies of a written report <br /> on the progress of the sewer construction program by the Public Works <br /> Department were distributed to the Councilmembers (dated September 17, <br /> 1963). <br /> Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt that the progress report be approved. Motion <br /> carried. <br /> I 7 8. Chamber of Commerce Space, new City Hall - The City Manager presented a <br /> revised schedule of rental fees for space required by the Chamber of <br /> Commerce in the new City Hall building which would give a net result of <br /> $341.61 per month rental for a proposed period of five years. Providing <br /> the City is not in need of the space after the 5-year period, the renewal <br /> rate would be negotiated at that time. <br /> e Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve the Manager's recommendation for <br /> space rental in the new City Hall to the Chamber of Commerce. Motion defeated. <br /> 8 9. Parking restriction west curb East Amazon Drive, and offsetting center <br /> stripe 14 feet instead of 18 feet - This request was made by the Department <br /> of Public Works to assist in eliminating a traffic hazard at this par- <br /> ticular area. <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve the parking restrictions as recom- <br /> mended. Motion carried. <br /> ORDINANCES <br /> 9 Council Bill No. 6345 - Vacating east 133.6 feet of alley between Alder and Hilyard Streets and <br /> 12th and 13th Avenues was submitted and read in full. <br /> I Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris that the bill be read the second time by council bill number <br /> only, with unanimous consent of the Council. Motion carried unanimously and the bill was read the <br /> second time by council bill number only. <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris that the rules be suspended and the bill read the third time <br /> by Council bill number on~y,,'Yith unanimous consent of the Council. Motion carried Y~~~~~9usl& and <br /> the bill was read the third time by council bill number only. <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris that the bill be approved and given final passage.
