<br />The regular meeting of the Common Council.of th~ City of Eugen:, Oregon, was called 1, -
<br />to order at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber on November 12, 1963 by Council President
<br />and Acting Mayor John O. Chatt: in the absence of Mayor Cone. Other members of the Council I
<br />present were Mrs.:Lauris., Messrs. Swanson, Christensen, Deverell, Hawk, and Purdy. Council-
<br />man R. G. Crakes was,absent. I

<br />
<br />1 Gouncilman Christensen suggested that the Council initiate proceedings to widen Alder-
<br />Street-from Franklin Boulevard to 18th Avenue. Mr. Christensen so moved seconded by
<br />Mrs. Lauris. --
<br />
<br />Mr. Swanson moved se.conded by Dr. Purdy to table this item, pending a recommendation from I
<br />the staff. Mot ion carried. 4

<br />2 Mr. Swanson stated that the transformer station near the alleys at Broadway and 10th,
<br />Charnel ton and Lincoln, had latt<fc~e-type fences which he believed interfered with traffic
<br />sight distances. The staff WqS directed to investi:gate the situation..

<br />3 . Dr. Pur4y recommended that the businessmen:in the area of ,13th at Alder and Kincaid
<br />shou14 be ,commended on their use of lighting and the :dres.sing up of their general business
<br />area.
