Paving Linnea from Norkenzie to Tarpon - This petition carried 84% <br />of the front footage of the property: in the area and would require <br />the release by the City of a l-foot reserve strip adjacent to the <br />property on the south side in order t~at this property could be <br />assessed. <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chat~ that the request be approved for paving <br />Linnea from Norkenzie to Tarpon. Motion carried. <br /> <br />6. Paving 39th. Watkins to west City limits- This petition had been com- <br />bined with an old petition for paving 39th Avenue from Willame~te to <br />Watkins Road and had been held pending passage of legislation which <br />would allow the cemetery to be assessed for the improvement. <br /> <br />Mr. Christensen moved seconded by Mr. Swanson to approve the petition for paving. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />7. Sewer, West Broadway west from Garfield - This was a request to ex- <br />tend the sewer from Garfield Street west on Broadway and was recom- <br />mended by the Public Works Department for installation. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to app'rove installation of the requested <br />sewer. Motion carried. <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />8. Traffic Control, Donald. 33rd, 43rd, 46th ~ The Department of Public <br />Works presented a recommendation for traffic control on Donald from <br />32nd to 49th, on 33rd from Willamette to Hilyard, on 43rd from Donald <br />to Fox Hollow, and on 46th from Willamette to Fox Hol~ow. This would <br />involve the installation of "yield right-of-way"- signs in some in- <br />stances, and the removal of "stop" signs, and the installation of "stop" <br />signs at some intersections. <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve the Public Works Department recom- <br />mendation for this traffic control signing. Motion carried. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />Mr. Swanson moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to reconsider Item 12 of the Committee <br />report of February 27, 1964 in which action was taken denying ~ request to pave 15th <br />Avenue from Polk Street to the Fairgrou~ds. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Further discussion by the Council then resulted in a motion by Mr. <br />by Mr. Chatt to pave 15th Avenue from Pbtk Street to Tyler Str~et. <br />Mr. Deverell voting no. <br /> <br />Swanson seconded <br />Motion carried, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />The City Manager presented copies of an agreement with the State of Oregon, <br />Highway Department, and Lane County concerning the maintenance on the Oak Hill- <br />Willamette River section of the Mapleton-Eugene Highway, which. is State Secondary <br />Highway 220. The State Highway Department intends ~o relocate or realign a portion <br />of the west side highway, <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved secorrded by Mr. Swanson to enter into the ag~eement with the State <br />of Oregon Highway Department. and Lane County to take over joint maintenance of the <br />Eugene-Mapleton Highway as propose~. Rollcall vote, All councilmen present voting <br />aye, motion carried, <br /> <br />LICENSES <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />An application for Package Store Class B liquor license was submitted. by Safeway <br />Stores Incorporated dba Safeway Store #190, 1840 East 13th Avenue, approved by the. <br />Police Department. <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve ~he application. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />On discussion, it was suggested by Mr. Hawk that some consideration be given to the <br />dry area, so-called, around the University of Oregon campus an~, since this particular <br />store is within that area, p~rhaps the University authorities should be notified of <br />the request for the Class B Packag~ Store license. <br /> <br />Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to table the item.
