Edwin E. Cone with the following councilmen present: Mrs. Lauris:, Me:ssrs. <br /> Swans'on, Christens'en, Deverell, Crakes, and Purdy. Mrs. Lauris then suggested that p~rhaps.the Mayor's committee on' I <br /> parking at one of their meetings could discuss the matter of right-of-way easements <br /> along, the millrace chann_eL . <br /> .. . -. - . .. <br /> 2 Dr. Purdy asked the question as to the employment of the dog control officer <br /> and what the situation is at the present time. Police Chief Ellsworth then commented <br /> that at the present time the dog con,trol offi~er' is taking a training session and, <br /> that as sOOn as a vehicle is ready for his use, he would be on patrol. <br /> 3 Mayor Cone then recognized a grade school class from Condon School visiting the <br /> Council meeting with their instructor, Mr. Campbell. <br /> 4 Abatement, Eugene Chemical & Rendering Works, Tosta - The City Manager asked the City <br /> Attorney to bring the Council members up to date on all that had happened over the <br /> years concerning the removal of the Eugene Chemical & Rendering Works from its present <br /> location on Centennial. Boulevard. The City Attorney then outlined the proceedings <br /> thus far. The City Manager then stated that the Eugene Chemical & Rendering Works <br /> had promised to move their operation to the neighborhood of Harrisburg but that the <br /> move just had not been accomplished, and it was the recommendation of the staff that <br /> abatement proceedings be initiated. <br /> Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to approve the recommendation for start of <br /> abatement proceedings on Eugene Chemical & Rendering Works. Motion carried. <br /> 5 Airport Terminal Building Dedication Committee - Mayor Cone announced that he would I <br /> appoint Mrs. Lauris, Mr. Crakes, and Dr. Purdy to the Airport Dedication Committee <br /> for the dedication of the new terminal building at Mahlon Sweet Field in September. <br /> 6 This being the date set for the award of contracts for var.ious improvement proj- <br /> ects, the following tabulation of bids was presented as opened July 7, 1964: <br /> Cost <br /> Pav Contract per /Frnt~: Cost to Amount <br /> Proiect and Name of Bidder Wdth Cost Zone, Ft.
