Bailey Lane School Site - In order to make the best use of land owned <br /> ! by the City of Eugene and School District No. 4 in the Ascot Drive/ <br /> , <br /> Bailey Lane area, where the School District proposes to-build a school, <br /> it was recommended that the City exchange certain acreages with the <br /> School District in order to consolidate holdings which would allow <br /> the School District to construct their building on Bailey Lane and <br /> which would allow the City to consolidate its park properties to the <br /> south and off Ascot Drive. It was proposed that the house now lo- <br /> cated on park property would eventually be removed. A map showing <br /> the location of the properties of the City and the District was pre- <br /> sented.. Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Christensen to approve the <br /> exchange as proposed. Motion carried. <br /> e Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Swanson to approve.Item 5 of the Committee report. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> 2 6. Paving Monroe, 1st to Clark - The Public Works Department recommended <br /> that Monroe Street between 1st Avenue and Clark Street be paved, <br /> stating that the results of a poll showed owners of 35% of the abut-. <br /> I ting property in favor, 38% against, and 27% no reply. Mr.Christen- <br /> sen moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to initiate the paving. Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Christensen moved seconded by Mr. Swanson to approve Item 6 of the Committee re- <br /> port. Motion carried. , <br /> 3 7. Coburg Road Right-of-Way - It was recommended that the City purchase <br /> property at 1425 Coburg Road from Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Armstrong <br /> for $1620, and at 1948 Coburg Road from Richard M. and Alice J.Tone <br /> for $430 for right-of-way to allow widening of Coburg Road.. Mrs. <br /> Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Deverell to approve these two purchases. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Swanson to approve Item 7 of the Committee report. <br /> Rollcall vote. Annexation area southeast corner Beltline and Gilham Roads, <br /> General Properties (64-070) <br /> I The Planning Commission recommended annexation of the three areas. <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to approve the annexations. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> 7 d. Parcel Release and Street Dedication,Linnea Park - Requested was <br /> the release of a l-foot easement along the westerly 313.4 feet of <br /> Parcel "A", Linnea Park Subdivision, and the dedication of a <br /> 10-foot strip of right-of-way along the same property for street <br /> purposes. Dr.Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve the re- <br /> lease and the dedication. Motion carried. <br /> Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Swanson to approve Items 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, and 8e <br /> of the Committee report. Motion carried. <br /> 9 9. County Zoning, Shopping Center north of Willamette River - Mayor Cone <br /> stated that the Lane County Commissioners would be making a decision <br /> next week regarding the zoning of the area for the proposed shopping <br /> center north of the Willamette River and, based on the recommendation <br /> I of the Eugene Planning Commission to the City Council that it should <br /> take action necessary to effect the immediate annexation of the area, <br /> it would seem that the Council should give some indication of the. <br /> position of the City with regard to this proposed Valley River Shop- <br /> ping Center.
