Bid Opening Improvement Pro;ects, July 21, 1964 - A tabulation of bids was presented as opened July 21, and the Public Works Directo~ pointed out I that the low bid submitted by Wildish Construction Company on the paving of streets in Replat of Lots 6 and 7, Block 6, Sunny Hollow Addition, was considered quite high, being $16.67 per front foot. It was also pointed out that only one bid had been received for the construction of a sani- tary sewer in the same area (Northway Construction Company), being $12.73 per zone foot. Both low bids were considered too high by the Public Works Department, and they recommended rejection of bids on both projects. Mr. Swanson moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to reject bids on. the paving and Sanitary sewer construction as recommended. Motion carried. On paving Willakenzie Road from Coburg Road to Cal Young RO'ad, Mr. Hawk moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to award the contract to. the low bidder, Stanton Payne. Motion carried. On paving and sanitary sewer construction in 2nd Addition to Eugene In- dustrial Tract, and 5th Avenue and 7th Place from west boundary of 2nd Addition to Eugene Industrial Tract to Seneca Road, Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to award the. contract to the low bidder, Wildish Construction Company. Motion carried. On paving and storm and sanitary sewer construction in Hendricks Vista Addition, no bids were received. The Public Works Department recommended that bids be rejected for paving I and sanitary and storm sewer construction in Deerfield Addition. Dr.Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to reject the bids on this project. Motion carried. Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to award the contract for storm sewer construction withinWildish Subdivision to Wild ish Construction Company on their low bid. (See award of contracts under Bid Openings under New Business earlier in meeting.) 2 2. Planning Commission Report - July 7. 1964 a. Zoning newly annexed Bethel-Danebo area - The Assistant City Manager presented a map showing the Planning Commission's recommended zoning of the newly annexed Bethel-Danebo area, excepting three small areas which they recommended to be re-advertised, for public hearing at the August meeting of the Planning Commission. A letter was read from Mr. James M. Ragsdale, 2141 Wisconsin Street, requesting that in zoning this area a variance be granted allowing him to operate a barber shop at 2l4l.Wisconsin Street. Mr. Swanson moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve the zoning as recommended, omitting the three parcels, and to grant the variance requested by Mr. Ragsdale. After discussion, Mr. Swanson moved seconded by Mr. Hawk to table the item I until the Council meeting on July 27, 1964. Motion carried. The Assistant City Manager explained that it would probably be better to zone the three small parcels C-3P rather than leaving the areas without zoning until the Planning Com- mission hearing in August and subsequent approval by the Council (lapse of time between 7/27/64 - 5 e II L~
