<br /> -- 14~ <br /> e <br /> 10/12/64 <br /> I <br /> Council Chamber <br /> Eugene, Oregon <br /> October 12, 1964 <br /> The regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, was <br /> called to order. at 7:30 p.m. PDT on October 12, 1964 in the Council Chamber by ~ouncil- <br /> man John Chatt with the following Council members present: Messrs. Swanson, Christen- <br /> sen, Deverell, Hawk, and Purdy. Mr. Crakes was absent. -Mrs. Lauris and Mayor Cone <br /> arrived later in the meeting. . <br /> The invocation was given by Rev. Matt Flood, Bethel-Danebo Baptist Church. <br /> e The minutes of the adjourned meeting held on September 28, 1964, as mailed to <br /> members of the Council, were approved.- <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> 1 Councilman Chatt introduced a visitor from Madras, India, Mr. V. M. Cherian, of <br /> the United States Information Agency. <br /> I Councilman Purdy introduced a group of provisional members of the Junior League <br /> attending the meeting. <br /> Mrs. Lauris arrived at the meeting and assumed the Chair. <br /> 2 An application for a Package Store Class A license was submitted by George E. <br /> and Selma L. Scott dba Millers Grocery, 1065 East 20th Avenue (Change of Ownership), <br /> approved by the Police Department. <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Swanson that the application be approved. Motion <br /> carried. <br /> . <br /> 3 A tabulation of bids submitted for the purchase of fire hose was presented: <br /> Munnell & Sherrill. Inc. <br /> Fabric Fire Hose - F-600 $ 1.27 per ft. <br /> Fabric Fire Hose - Puritan Unispun 1.57 " <br /> Western Fire Equipment Co. <br /> Eureka 1.088 " <br /> Mr. Swanson moved seconded by Mr. Chatt that the fire hose be purchased from Western <br /> Fire Equipment Company on their bid price of $1. 088 per foot (2000 feet - 2~", 1000 <br /> I feet - nil). Rollcall vote. All councilmen present voting aye, motion carried. <br /> 4 A tabulation of bids submitted for the purchase of a front end loader tractor <br /> for the Parks Department was presented: <br /> Hydraulic <br /> Bidder Model Loader Ripper Total <br /> Machinery Exchange HD-3 $ 7,223.49 $ 246.72 $ 7,470.21 <br /> e Fisher Implement John Deere 1010 6,995.00 746.30 7,741. 30 <br /> Arnold Powell TD 340-A 7,361. 76 450.00 7,811.76 <br /> Howard Cooper TD 340-A 7,988.00 650.00 8,638.00 <br /> Other bids received which did not meet specifications: <br /> Harold & Jensen Case 310 6,324.40 365.60 6,690.00 <br /> Midway Machinery Case 3l0F 5,876.00 -869.50 6,742.50 <br /> A. Case 3l0G 6,749.22 359.70 7,108.92 <br /> The.Parks Department recommended the purchase of the equipment from Machinery Ex- <br /> change for $7,470.21. <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Swanson that the equipment be purchased from Machinery <br /> Exchange on their bid price of $7,470.21.
