-- 14~ e 10/12/64 I Council Chamber Eugene, Oregon October 12, 1964 The regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, was called to order. at 7:30 p.m. PDT on October 12, 1964 in the Council Chamber by ~ouncil- man John Chatt with the following Council members present: Messrs. Swanson, Christen- sen, Deverell, Hawk, and Purdy. Mr. Crakes was absent. -Mrs. Lauris and Mayor Cone arrived later in the meeting. . The invocation was given by Rev. Matt Flood, Bethel-Danebo Baptist Church. e The minutes of the adjourned meeting held on September 28, 1964, as mailed to members of the Council, were approved.- NEW BUSINESS 1 Councilman Chatt introduced a visitor from Madras, India, Mr. V. M. Cherian, of the United States Information Agency. I Councilman Purdy introduced a group of provisional members of the Junior League attending the meeting. Mrs. Lauris arrived at the meeting and assumed the Chair. 2 An application for a Package Store Class A license was submitted by George E. and Selma L. Scott dba Millers Grocery, 1065 East 20th Avenue (Change of Ownership), approved by the Police Department. Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Swanson that the application be approved. Motion carried. . 3 A tabulation of bids submitted for the purchase of fire hose was presented: Munnell & Sherrill. Inc. Fabric Fire Hose - F-600 $ 1.27 per ft. Fabric Fire Hose - Puritan Unispun 1.57 " Western Fire Equipment Co. Eureka 1.088 " Mr. Swanson moved seconded by Mr. Chatt that the fire hose be purchased from Western Fire Equipment Company on their bid price of $1. 088 per foot (2000 feet - 2~", 1000 I feet - nil). Rollcall vote.
