m~ 179 e 11/23/64 I 'I Counc il Chamber E~g~ne, Oregon November 23, 1964 The adjourned meeting of the Common Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon - ad- journed from the regular meeting held November 9, 1964 - was called to order at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber on November 23, 1964 by His Honor M~yor Edwin E. Cone with the following councilmen present: Mrs. Lauris, Messrs. Chatt, Swanson, Deverell, Crakes, Hawk, and Purdy. Councilman Christensen was absent. The minutes of the regular meeting held November 9, 1964, as mailed to members of the Council, were approved. e NEW BUSINESS 1 Proclamation - Canvass of votes cast in November 3, 1964 e1ection,was read in full showing the following results: Measure No. 51 - Charter Amendment Authorizing Pedestrian Yes-16,392 No- 9,902 I Ma 11 s Measure No. 52 - Ordinance Authorizing Addition of Fluoride Yes-14,635 No-13,372 to Water Supply Mayor - Edwin E. Tiffany 5,846 Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt that the proclamation be approved. Motion e carried. 2 Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to accept the resignation of C. Dan Christensen as councilman from Ward IV and to recommend the appointment of Mr. R.E. McNutt to fill the position of councilman from Ward IV for the unexpired term end- ing January 4, 1965. Motion carried. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt that Mr. R. E. McNutt be appointed to fill the unexpired term ending January 4, 1965 of C. Dan Christensen, resigned, council- man, Ward IV. Motion carried. The City Recorder administered the oath of office to Mr. McNutt who then took his place as a member of the Council. 3 A payment was submitted in the amount of $1,053.50 for Abrams Construction Co. I for construction of Wi11akenzie Sewers Phase V, with request for assignment to Eugene Police Officers for traffic control during construction. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to authorize the payment with assignment to Eugene Polic,e Officers and to authorize the proper City officials to draw the neces- sary warrant. Rollcall vote.
