The present charge is $1.00 per space per year, or 40~ per space <br />per quarter. It was also mentioned that the present fee for indoor <br />theatres is 25~ per seat per year, or 10~ per seat per quarter. It was <br />recommended that the drive-in license fee be reduced to 50~ per space <br />per year, or l5~ per space per quarter. Dr. Purdy mov~d seconded by <br />Mr. Chatt to approve the recommendation. Motion carried. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />15. The following correspondence was read and received and placed on file: <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />. <br />a. Le~ter from Keith D. Skelton requesting parking privileges for members <br />of the legislature in Eugene. <br /> <br />b. Letter from the State Board of Census certifying Eug~ne's population <br />at 70,203. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />c. Letter from State Highway Commission stating that request had been <br />received for public hearing on the 7th-Clark section,of the Eugene- <br />Springfield Highway and the City would be notified of date of such <br />hearing. <br /> <br />d. Letter from Winn & Co. reporting completion of audit of City of <br />Eugene records for the quarter ended September 30, 1964. <br /> <br />e. Copy of letter addressed to president of Eugene Chamber of Commerce <br />from E. B. Mather, owner-manager of Mills Motel, concerning his com- <br />plaint against John T. Moody an? Sons. <br /> <br />f.Letter from Eugene Water & Electric Board enclosing copy ~f letter <br />from San Francisco Water Department concerning fluoridation of <br />water supply. <br /> <br />g. Communication that Housing and Home Finance A~ency had gra~ted the <br />requested amendment for planning funds for covering Amazon pool <br />and construction of community b~ildings. <br /> <br />h. The City Manager also announced that Ray Hicks, Sr., retired Decem- <br />ber 31, 1964. He had been a member of the Eugene Fire Departmeqt <br />continuously since August 1, 1918. It was recommended that a letter <br />of appreciation be sent to Mr. Hic~. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris that Items 14 through l5h of the Committee re- <br />port be approved. Motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />ORDINANCES <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />Council Bill No. 6870 - Levying assessments for wideni~g High Street from 6th Avenue to 11th Avenue, <br />submitted and read the first time in full on December 14, 1964 a~d held over ~or proper notice of assess-' <br />ment to be given owners of affected property, was now brought back for consideration with no written <br />protests on file. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt~ed seconded by Mrs. Lauris that the bill be read the second time by council bill number <br />only, with unanimous consent of the Council. Motion carried unanimously and the b~ll was read the <br />second time by council bill number only. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris that the bill be read the third time bycouncil bill number <br />only, with unanimous consent of the Council. Motion carried. unanimously and the bill was read the <br />third time by council bill number only. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris that the bill be approved and given final passage. Rollcall <br />vote. All councilmen present voting aye, the bill was declared passed and numbered 13712. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />Council Bill No.687l - Levying assessments' for sanitary sewer in Willakenzie Sanitary Sewer Im- <br />provement District No. WS-63-l, submitted and read the first time in ful~ on December 14,1964 and held <br />over for proper notice of assessment to be given owners of affected property, was now broug9t .back for <br />consideration with no written protests on file. . , . <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris that the bill be read the second time by council bill number <br />only, with unanimous consent of the Council.
