<br />28~ <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />4/12/65 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Speed Zone. 30th Avenue - At the request of the city of Eugene, the State Speed Cbntrol Board made an <br />investigation of speed zone on 30th Avenue from Hilyard Street to the east City limits (391.83 feet <br />east of University Street). The Board's recommendation is to establish a 30 mph speed, except at <br />Potter Street for 500 feet during school crossing hours, 20 mph. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Hawk to concur with the Speed Control Board's recommendation. Motion <br />carried, Mrs. Lauris and Dr. Purdy voting no. <br /> <br />2 Class A-I Basketball Tournament - A letter was read from the Oregon School Activities Association <br />dated April 6, 1965, acknowledging receipt of a copy of the resolution adopted by the Council at <br />its March 29, 1965 meeting concerning moving the Class A-I Basketball Tournament to Portland. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to receive and file the letter. Motion carried. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />Jaycee Street Tree Planting - A letter was read from the Jaycee's commending parks and recreation <br />department employes for their assistance in planting street'trees the weekend of April 10 and 11,1965, <br />The letter was received and fi led. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />4 Rhododendron Show. May 2. 1965 - The Rhododendron Society again requested permission to charge an <br />entrance fee for the show to be held in Hendricks Park. They suggested 50~ per person. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to permit charging the recommended fee for the Show. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />ORDINANCES ' <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />Council Bill No. 6995 - Dispensing with election in City concerning annexation of area north of <br />30th Avenue at Agate Street (Tillman) was submitted and read in full., <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Crakes that the bill be read the second time by council bill number <br />only, with unanimous consent of the Council. Motion carried unanimously and the bill was read the <br />second time by council bill number only. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Crakes that the rules be suspended and the bill read the third time <br />by council bill number only, with unanimous consent of the Council. Motion carried unanimously and <br />the bill was read the third time by. council bill number only. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Crakes that the bill be approved and given final passage. Rollcall <br />vote. All councilmen present voting aye, the bill was declared passed and numbered 13827. <br /> <br />6 Council Bill No. 6996 - Annexing area north of 30th Avenue at Agate Street was submitted and read <br />in full. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Crakes that the bill be read the second time by council bill number <br />only, with unanimous consent of the Council.
