<br />Mr. Crakes moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to approve the budget as presented.
<br />
<br />Mr. Pat Flynn, president of the Fire Fighters Association, presented charts showing a review of the
<br />pay rates for firemen with various ~teps on the s,a.:,lary. c:la~sif:ication p~an. Mr. Joe,Willis, repre-
<br />senting the Lane County Labor Council, spoke in support of'the original'pay recommendation for fire-
<br />men. Mr. Richard Beck, representing the Public Works maintenance division, asked several questions
<br />concetning the salary schedule for street and maintenance employees.
<br />
<br />The City Manager stated that a review would be made of Fire Department salary schedules for classifi-
<br />cations below the rate of Battalion Chief, and that any proposed adjustments could be made within the
<br />structure of the existing budget and would be brought before the City Council later for approval.
<br />
<br />Mr. Crakes moved seconded by. Mr. Anderson to amend the motion to read "that the budget for the city ;
<br />of Eugene for the 1965-66 fiscal year be approved subject to the Council's adjustment of Fire Depart- I
<br />ment salaries for classifications below that of Battalion Chief." Rollcall vote. All councilmen
<br />present voting aye, and motion as amended carried.
