<br /> Engineers estimate on the extension was $239,162.91 based on completion this fall; Reduction
<br /> due to extending completion date. On lighting, engineers estimate was $53,000.00. The Air-
<br /> port Manager explained that 'Federal' funds are available and .re'commend~d award of co-ntracts.
<br /> to the low bidder on each project, taking the alternate on runway extension, and subject to
<br /> FAA approval of the bids. The City Manager pointed out that the City's share of the cost
<br /> of these projects was included in the 1967-68 Airport budget.
<br /> Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to award contracts as recommended. Motion carried on
<br /> rollcall vote, with all councilmen present voting aye.

<br />2 Resolution No. 1455 - AuthotiztDg acceptance of Grant for Runway Extension and Lighting, Mahlon
<br /> Sweet Field, $227~587.00 (Project 9-35-044-C808, Contract FA68WE-3904) was submitted and read in full.
<br /> Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to adopt the resolution. Rollcall vote. All councilmen
<br /> present voting aye, motion carried.
<br />3 Resolution No. 1456 - Awarding contract to C. J. Montag and Sons, Inc. , for runway extension
<br /> at Mahlon Sweet Field, $183,138.11, was submitted and read in full.
<br /> Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to adopt the resolution. Rollcall vote. All councilmen I
<br /> present voting aye, motion carried.
<br />4 Resolution No. 1457 - Awarding contract to Steeck Electric Company for runway lighting at
<br /> Mahlon Sweet Field, $53,632.20, was submitted and read in full.
<br /> Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to adopt the resolution. Motion carried, on rollcall vote,

<br />5 Resolution No. 1458 - Approving settlement with certain defendants in the case State of Oregon
<br /> et al vs. American Pipe and Construction Co., et aI, was submitted and read in full.
<br /> The City Attorney explained that the State had settled its suit against some of the defendants in
<br /> this case (United States Steel Corporation; Kaiser Steel Corporation; Martin-Marietta Corporation;
<br /> U.S.lndustries, Inc.; United Concrete Pipe Corporation; and Smith-Scott Co., Inc.), and that although
<br /> the city of Eugene had not purchased steel pipe from the companies sued in the price-fixing case, the
<br /> City had joined with the State and other Oregon cities in the suit. Re said the State is now ~gking
<br /> for a resolution the City will not sue any of the settling defendants involved which will also allow
<br /> the Attorney General of the State of Oregon to distribute funds received from the settling defendants.
<br /> Mrs. Lautis moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to adopt the resolution. Rollcall vote. All councilmen
<br /> present voting aye, motion carried.
<br />6 Resolution No. 1459 - Authorizing Attorney General to distribute monies received from settling I
<br /> defendants in U.S.District Court suit State of Oregon et al vs. American Pipe and Construction Co.,
<br /> et aI, was submitted and read in full. -
<br /> Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr.. McNutt to adopt the resolution. Rollcall vote. All councilmen
<br /> present voting aye, motion carried.
<br /> Upon motion duly made, seconded, and carried, the meeting was adjourned. -
