6 Council Bill No. 8172 - Levying assessments'for sanitary sewer in~D-66-3 (bounded by Dove Lane,
Taney Street" BPA easement, arid future north/south Belt Line Road)submitted and read the first. time
in full on September 25, 1967 and held over to this meeting to allow proper notice of assessment to
be given owner.s of affected properties; was brought back for consideration with two written protests
on file, one from J. H. Sorenson, 4300 Avalon Avenue, the other from Albert W. and Mary Larsung, 210
David, Apt. 11, Carson City, Nevada.
Mr. Sorenson objected to five assessments against properties in his ownership because of a drainage
ditch running through one property and installation of ' two taps for one property on the City.ls advice
resulting in an unnecessary charge of $212.63. Mr.Sorenson felt the other assessments were either a I
duplication 'of sewer costs. or .should be. deferred. until the properties are developed.
The Public Works Director explained the amount charged each parcel was made .according to the standard
assessment procedure. He said because of change in assessment policy during construction of this
sewer, Mr. Sorenson has a legitimate claim with regard to the $212.63 charge, and recommended its
deletion. A reportfrom:the Public Works Department was presented.giving the estimated cost at the
time of contract award 'and t'he method of assessment.
"
Councilman Lassen ment:Loned.;the possibility of. deferring .assessment .on one ,of, the undeveloped p,rop- e
erties on which a pond is located. Mr. Sorenson offered to dedicate a freeze strip and asked delay
