Motion carried. <br /> RESOLUTIONS <br /> 4 Resolution No. 1470 - Authorizing agreement with First National Bank of Oregon as paying agent <br />I for City was submitted and read in full. <br /> Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr.Anderson that the resolution be adopted. Motion carried. <br /> 5 Collective Bargaining - Robert Ferrar and Fred Mohr, representing AFSCME ln4, presented <br /> a critizue on specifics of the City Manager's report to the City Council with regard to <br /> the Union's request for recognition and the.right to co~lective, bargaining. Copies of <br /> their presentation were distributed to Council members prior to the meeting. Mr. Ferrar <br /> asked the Council to adopt the statement of policy included in the presentation with re- <br /> gard to recognizing that employes have ,a right t~ organize and have unions of their choice, <br /> and the right to collective bargaining. <br /> ',', <br /> John Jensen, president and business agent; Frank Jackson, vice president; and Leonard <br /> Jensen, secretary-treasurer; all of Fire Fighters Local 851, cited various publications <br /> in support of their request for a collective bargaining contract. John Jensen asked the <br /> Council to appoint a subcommittee with authority to act for the Council and people of <br /> Eugene to discuss and implement a.bargaining contrac~ with Fire Fighters Loca~ 851. He <br /> urged that a decision be made at the October 30, 1967 Council meeting. <br /> Councilwoman Lauris asked if his proposal included. the Public Works employes, and <br /> Mr. Ferrar answered that Local_1724 is requesting only a statement of policy.
