All councilmen present voting aye, the bill was declared passed and numbered 15402. <br /> 1 Council Bill No. 8581 - Levying assessments for sidewalk on 18th Avenue from City View Street to <br /> Bailey Hill Road was submitted and read in full. <br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen thatthe bill be held over to the August 26, 1968 Council <br /> meeting to allow proper notice of assessment to be given owners of affected properties. Motion carried. <br /> 2 Council Bill No. 8582 - Levying assessments for sanitary sewer between 10th Avenue and 11th <br /> Avenue from McKinley Street to the east was submitted and read in full. <br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen that the bill be held over to "the August 26, 1968 meeting <br />. to allow proper notice of assessment to be given owners of affected properties. Motion carried. <br /> 3 Council Bill No. 8583 - Levying assessments for sanitary sewer on EmRay Drive between Chambers <br /> Street and Lorane Highway was submitted and read in full. <br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen that the bill be held over to the August 26, 1968 meeting <br />- to allow proper notice of assessment to be given owners of affected properties. Motion carried. <br />. 4 Council Bill No. 8584 - Levying assessments for sanitary sewer on McLean Boulevard between <br /> Lindsay Loop and McKendrick Street was submitted and read in full. <br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen that the bill be held over to the August 26, 1968 meeting <br /> to allow proper notice of assessment to be given owners of affected properties. Motion carried. <br /> RESOLUTIONS <br /> 5 Resolution No. 1557 - Abatement 178-180 West 27th Avenue (Peterse~, and <br /> Resolution No. 1558 - Abatement 2738 Charnelton Street (Petersen}, were submitted and read in full. <br /> A letter was read from A. H. Petersen requesting a 60-day extension of the abatement order. The <br />. Superintendent of Building Inspection said Mr. Petersen has been notified several times and, although <br /> a building was removed from the property, debris has not been taken out and is a source of constant <br /> complaints from the neighborhood. The Building Superintendent said he felt the ten days allowed by <br /> abatement procedure is ample. <br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to adopt Resolutions 1557 and 1558. Motion carried. <br /> 6 Resolution No. 1559 - Abatement 955 East 43rd Avenue (Sahlstrom) was submitted and read in full. <br /> A letter was presented from Elmer Sahlstrom requesting extension of time to give him anopportunity to <br /> gain settlement of an insurance claim for vandalism on the structure in question. The insurance <br /> carrier, he said, will not repait or replace under the policy. Mr. Sah1strom said if he cannot get <br />. settlement with the time requested then he will proceed with abatement. <br /> Gary McCollum, 945 East 43rd Avenue; Ronald Schmaedick, 947 Hiwan Court; and Henry Baitis urged the <br /> Council to proceed with abatement. They described the condition of the property and hazards to which <br /> the neighborhood is subjected. The subdivider of the property on which the structure stands asked <br /> that the barricade be returned to its location in order to stop travel over the freeze strip until <br /> 43rd is opened to Amazon Drive. <br />. Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to adopt the resolution. Motioncarried. <br /> 7 Resolution No. 1560 - Transmitting to Planning Commission for August 6 and September 3, 1968 <br /> hearing (Council August 26, 1968) request for amendments to Zoning Ordinance 15158, was submitted and <br /> read in full. <br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to adopt the resolution. Motion carried. <br /> 8 Resolution No. 1561 - Variance to allow second-floor office use at 1350 Chambers Street (Invest- <br /> mentment Enterprises) was submitted and read in full. <br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to adopt the resolution. Motion carried. <br />. 9 Resolution No. 1562 - Transmitting to Planning Commission for August 6, 1968 hearing request to <br /> rezone northeast corner Concord Avenue and Jacob's Drive (Hanson) was submitted and read in full. <br />.. Mr. Anderron moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to adopt the resolution. Motion carried. <br /> 10 Council Bill No. 8571 - Sign Ordinance (Hearing continued from July 15, 1968 meeting). <br /> Section 2.3 - Outlying Commercial District - Discussion on the proposed sign ordinance continued, <br /> with Mrs. Niven describing sizes and areas of signs permitted under this section. Outlying commercial <br /> areas were pointed out on the Sign District Map. <br />. <br /> ..oIIl <br />
