<br /> Dr. Purdy asked the City Manager for a review of the gasoline company bid figures
<br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen that the bills as presented and read be allowed and proper
<br /> City officials authorized to draw the necessary warrants. Rollcall vote. All councilmen present
<br /> voting aye, motion carried.
<br /> 1 Wholesale Malt Beverage and Wholesale Wine Liquor Licenses, submitted by Max H. Burris and
<br /> Paul ine S. Burris for change from a partnership to a corporation, as approved by the
<br /> Police Department.
<br /> . Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to approve the change of the applications from partnerships
<br /> to ownerships. Motion carried.
<br /> \ COMMITTEE REPORTS
<br /> Committee meeting held September 12, 1968:
<br /> .' "Present: Mayor Cone; Councilmen Anderson, Lauris, Purdy, Lassen, Hayward, Wingard, and
<br /> -- Teague; City Manager and staff; and others.
<br /> 2 1. New Careers Conclave Meeting - Councilwoman Haywaid reported on the New Careers Conclave
<br /> she attended in San Francisco. The purpose of the Conclave was discussion of manpower
<br /> utilization, including methods of selecting employes, on-the-job training, and
<br /> opportunity for advancement.
<br /> 3 2. Urban Communitv Action Committee - Staff and Council members are invited to attend
<br /> meetings the first and third Tuesday of the month. The next six weeks will be
<br /> devoted to informing the public on the 1~% tax limitation measure on the November
<br /> ballot. Meetings are at 7:30 p.m. at the UCAC center, 42 West 6th Street.
<br /> .' 4 3. Report on Restaurant Licenses - The City Manager reviewed a report from the Finance
<br /> Department regarding licensing of restaurants. The charge for a restaurant license
<br /> is based on the seating capacity of the restaurant, with a minimum charge of $10.00
<br /> lit- per year and a amximum charge of $75.00 per year. The City retains 100% of these
<br /> fees, and the County is paid $1,800 Ey the City Health Department for inspections of
<br /> eating and drinking establishments.
<br /> 5 4. Lane County Community Action Agency - The Office of the Governor will hold a public
<br /> hearing on September 19, 1968, at 7: 30 p. m. , in Harris Hall to hear testimony on
<br /> the question of who will be designated to operate the Community Action Agency in
<br /> Lane County after February 1, 1969. Eligible applicants must be either private
<br /> non-pro:i;it corporations or a public agency legally capable of operating a community
<br /> .. action program.
