<br />~ <br />105 <br /> <br />3/24/69 <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Senate Bill 474 - Installation of Underground Utility Wire - The Council discussed the proposed <br />legislation and desirability of this bill, which allows both cities and counties to initiate projects <br />of underground, or initiation by petitions signed by 60% of the owners of property. <br /> <br />Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Mrs. Beal to support Senate Bill 474 <br /> <br />Councilman Wingard explained some of the pitfalls of this bill, and hardships it could cause to property:: <br />,I <br />' owners. :: <br /> <br />The Council said that, ;under the present system, there is no way to achieve an underground wiring <br />program in Eugene, especially as it pertains to conversion. <br /> <br />Mrs. Hayward suggested that, if possible, amendments should be added which would clarify city concerns <br />and be of more assistance to cities. <br /> <br />Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Mr. Teague to table the bill and allow legislative committee to attempt <br />to amend the bill with assistance of staff, and to propose legislation which might be more helpful to <br />cities.
