<br /> II Chin iu Report, Elizabeth Margoliash - In her rec'ent visit to Chinju, Korea, Miss Elizabeth Margoliash
<br /> i ?cted as representative of the city of Eugene to our Sister City. Miss Margoliash presented a gift
<br /> II of satin to. Mayor Anderson, sent by the Mayor of Chinju'. She circulated pictures taken' during her
<br /> Ii trip, and conunented on the differences in cultures of the two countries. She outlined needs of the I
<br /> :1 people of Korea, especially mixed blood -orphans, but said' she felt t,he country had.made much progress
<br /> I: economically. . I
<br /> II Resignation, Counciiman Wingard. - Mayor Ande.rson read the resignation of George Wingard, effective
<br /> II November 9, 1969. Councilman Wingard is a .State Representative from Lane County, and has found t.he
<br /> Ii increasing activity of his legislative ass:i;gnments make it impossible for him to continue on the
<br /> Ii Counci 1. . . I
<br /> ii Mayor Anderson accepted Councilman Wingard's resignation with regret and expres$Jed deep appreciation
<br /> Ii for his fine work in behalf of local government.

<br /> I Councilwoman Hayward joined with Mayor Anderson in expressing the regret of the Council, and announced
<br /> I
<br /> ! that the Council would entertain applications or reconunendations to fill the position in Ward 2.
<br /> i
<br /> I On Councilman Purdy's sug~estion, the Council requested candidates names be in to the Council by Monday,
<br /> I November 3. The Council will meet at 11;00 Wednesday, November 5 to interview applicants.

<br /> I' Chamber of Conunerce urging the Common Council and Mayor's Room Tax Allocation Conunittee to

<br /> d adhere to guidelines set down in the charter amendment and limit use of funds. The Counc i 1
<br /> II
<br /> j had discussed this previously and had intended to abide by the charter amendment to
<br /> I this effect. It was agreed that the resolution did not require acknowledgement or conunent.
<br /> I
<br /> i1 4. On-Street Parking - Councilwoman Beal saidhthe City Attorney had reported on the problem
<br /> Ii of reserving on-street parking spaces in congested areas for owners of homes. In I
<br /> ,I general his response was favorable. Copies were sent to staff, and Mrs. Beal would
<br /> I, appreciate a recommendation from staff on this matter.
<br /> !\Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Mr. McDonald to receive and file Items 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the Conunittee
