<br />e <br /> <br />Partnership work well together and the Partnership gives requests for help <br />from local businesses to appropriate agencies. He said the Partnership should <br />continue to recruit new businesses. <br /> <br />Jeanne Wagenknecht said she was chairperson of the Partnership Audit Committee <br />last year. She said the position provided good information about Eugene's <br />investment in the Partnershi p. She said the Ci ty Council shoul d recei ve <br />feedback about the investment. She also served as co-chairman of the <br />Partnership Speakers' Bureau last year. <br /> <br />The candidates answered several questions from the councilors. Mr. <br />Fenstermacher said the private sector of the Partnership is very strong. He <br />said the person hired to raise funds from the private sector is doing an <br />excellent job. He said a decrease in support from the public sector would <br />weaken support from the pri vate sector. Ms. Wagenknecht agreed wi th Mr. <br />Fenstermacher. She said the attitude of community leaders is important in <br />encouraging growth in private funding for the Partnership. She said Eugene's <br />financial commitment to the Partnership must be addressed. She said 49 <br />percent of the Partnership's income is from public sources and 51 percent <br />comes from private sources. <br /> <br />Mr. Hoyt said new investment in the wood products industry should be <br />recruited. He discussed technical advancements, secondary product <br />manufacture, and the need to convince the wood products industry <br />representatives that plants and mills should be built in Lane County. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Vickie Dietmeyer, Executive Director of the Metropolitan Partnership, <br />discussed the Wood Products Task Force. She said Lane County probably will <br />contribute $75,000 to the Partnership next year.
