<br /> Ms. Bascom said she prefers to interview all candidates for vacant positions. <br /> Ms. Wooten and Ms. Ehrman agreed with her. <br />e The motion carried 4:3 with Councilors Holmer, Rutan, Miller, <br /> and Bennett voting aye and Councilors Ehrman, Wooten, and <br /> Bascom voting nay. <br /> The councilors submi tted ba 11 ots for interviewees for a vacancy on the <br /> Downtown Commission, a vacancy on the Planning Commission, and three Eugene <br /> positions on the Eugene/Springfield Metropolitan Partnership Board of <br /> Directors. <br /> Ms. Bascom suggested that Mayor Obie ask the Metropolitan Partnership Board of <br /> Directors to change the length of terms for board members so that the terms of <br /> Eugene representatives can be staggered. The other councilors agreed with her <br /> suggestion. <br /> Ms. Ehrman said the current members of the Partnership Board of Directors <br /> received more votes than any other candidates. <br /> Ms. Ehrman moved, seconded by Mr. Holmer, to re-appoint <br /> Bob Fenstermacher, Tom Hoyt, and Jeanne Wagenknecht to <br /> the Metropolitan Partnership Board of Directors for terms <br /> ending December 31, 1988. <br /> Ms. Wooten said she would like to interview Mr. Fenstermacher, Mr. Hoyt, and <br /> Ms. Wagenknecht about their contributions to the Partnership, their future <br /> plans for the Partnership, and what the Partnership has accomplished. <br />e Mr. Rutan said it would not be necessary to interview the three since they <br /> received more votes than other candidates. <br /> Ms. Bascom suggested the three be re-appointed and then invited to meet with <br /> the council to discuss the Partnership. <br /> The motion carried 6:1 with Councilors Ehrman, Holmer, <br /> Bascom, Rutan, Miller, and Bennett voting aye and <br /> Councilor Wooten voting nay. <br /> Ms. Ehrman moved, seconded by Mr. Holmer, that the council <br /> interview all three candidates, Marcia Chambers, Ann Kahanek, <br /> and Joy Morrow for a vacancy on the Downtown Commission.
