e II. MINUTES AND FINDINGS OF HEARINGS OFFICIAL AND APPROVAL OF IMPROVEMENT PROJECT (27TH AVENUE) (JOB # 2364) City Manager Mike Gleason introduced the item. Mr. Holmer moved, seconded by Ms. Bascom, to adopt the Hearings Official's minutes and findings of May 31, 1988, and to approve improvements for paving on 27th Avenue from University Street to Elinor Street. Roll call vote; the motion carried unanimously, 8:0. III. RESOLUTION SUPPORTING PASSAGE OF COUNTYWIDE LIBRARY LEVY City Manager Mike Gleason introduced the item. Res. No. ~--A resolution of the Eugene City Council ex- 4001 pressing support for the passage of a Countywide Library Levy June 28, 1988. Mr. Holmer moved, seconded by Ms. Bascom, to adopt the resolution. Mayor Obie asked Jim Meeks, City Librarian, to explain what impact the levy would have on the Eugene Library if it failed to pass. Mr. Meeks said the library would have to discontinue the Bookmobile and close Sunday and Monday. e He said the levy represents approximately $240,000 a year for the City's library. Mayor Obie asked to what extent are the outside communities dependent on the serial levy. Mr. Meeks said the levy represents between 6 and 10 percent of the budgets. Ms. Wooten said she appreciates the resolution and hopes there are other ways the council can show its support. She suggested the council hold its next meeting at the Eugene Library to demonstrate its support for the levy. Mr. Gleason said staff will investigate that possibility. Roll call vote; the motion carried unanimously, 8:0. Mayor Obie recessed the meeting for ten minutes at 7:25 p.m. IV. PUBLIC HEARING: NUCLEAR FREE ZONE ORDINANCE City Manager Mike Gleason introduced the item. Mayor Obie said the council has a mandatory adjournment time of 10:30 p.m. He said people who have not had an opportunity to speak by that time may submit their comments in writing.
