<br /> e M I NUT E S <br /> Eugene City Council <br /> McNutt Room--City Hall <br /> December 14t 1988 <br /> 11: 30 a. m. <br /> COUNCILORS PRESENT: Cynthia Wootent Ruth Bascomt Rob Bennettt Freeman <br /> Ho1mert Jeff Millert Roger Rutant Emily Schue. <br /> COUNCILORS ABSENT: Debra Ehrman <br /> The adjourned meeting of December 12t 1988t was called to order by His Honor <br /> Mayor Brian B. Obie. <br /> Mayor Obie announced that the meeting could be moved to the Council Chamber <br /> if necessary to accommodate members of the public. <br /> I. ITEMS FROM THE CITY COUNCIlt MAYOR, AND CITY MANAGER <br /> A. Lane Regional Arts Council <br /> e Ms. Bascom described an innovative new ticket packaging which will offer six <br /> tickets for six major performing arts groups at $30. <br /> B. Focused Patrols <br /> Ms. Bascom referred to a memorandum from Chief Hall and suggested that the <br /> council schedule a discussion of focused patrols for January. She was <br /> particularly interested in the possibility of focused patrols in parks during <br /> the summer. <br /> C. Trees at Fifth Avenue and Adams Street <br /> Ms. Bascom cited the trees in the area of 5th Avenue and Adams Street as an <br /> example of inept pruning. Ms. Wooten concurred with Ms. Bascom's assessment <br /> of the pruning effort and suggested that City staff might work in <br /> collaboration with EWEB to achieve a more effective and aesthetically <br /> pleasing solution to the problem of trees on the power lines. <br /> D. Parks Foundation <br /> Ms. Bascom said the Parks Foundation was saving the City money. It is <br /> currently involved in the fund-raising effort for the Maurie Jacobs Memorial <br /> project and will assist in raising funds for the Celeste Campbell Senior <br /> Center. <br /> e MINUTES--Eugene City Council December 14, 1988 Page 1 <br />
