<br />e M I NUT E S <br /> Eugene City Council <br /> Council Chamber--Eugene City Hall <br /> December 4, 1989 <br /> 7:30 p.m. <br /> -, <br /> COUNCILORS PRESENT: Ruth Bascom, Robert Bennett, Shawn Boles, Debra Ehrman, <br /> Bobby Green, Freeman Holmer, Emily Schue. <br /> COUNCILORS ABSENT: Roger Rutan. <br /> The regular meeting of the Eugene City Council was called to order by His <br /> Honor Mayor Jeff Miller. <br /> 1. RECOGNITION OF FORMER MAYOR LES ANDERSON <br /> Mayor Miller recognized the service of former mayor Les Anderson. Mr. <br /> Anderson was a City Councilor from 1965 to 1969 and served as mayor from 1969 <br /> to 1977. He was the first official in the state to speak out on the issue of <br />e field burning. Mayor Miller presented Mr. Anderson with a plaque honoring <br /> the former mayor and the councilors with whom he served. The plaque will be <br /> added to the display of "Elected Officials" in the Council Chamber. <br /> II. PUBLIC FORUM <br /> Mayor Miller explained that the public forum allows citizens the opportunity <br /> to express opinions and to provide information to the council. He requested <br /> that testimony presented during this segment be on city-related items and not <br /> on items which are on present or pending agendas. <br /> William J. Mason, 1803 West 34th Avenue, requested that the public receive <br /> more notice of scheduled hearings. He considered the Friday preceding a <br /> hearing to be inadequate advance notice if public input is to be prepared. <br /> III . CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> A. Approval of City Council Meeting Minutes of October 9, October 23, <br /> October 25, and November 15, 1989; and Special Session Minutes of <br /> November 8, 1989 <br /> B. Appointments: Mayor Miller's Nominations to the Airport <br /> Committee, Citizen Involvement Committee, Community Development <br /> Committee, Construction Code Board of Appeals, Eugene Cultural <br />e MINUTES--Eugene City Council December 4, 1989 Page 1 <br />
