PUBLIC HEARING: CHARTER FOR SOUTHEAST NEIGHBORS City Manager Mike Gleason introduced the topic. Christine Donahue, City Manager's Office, reported that residents who attended a May 9 joint meeting unanimously approved the merger of the Dunn, Oak Hills, Southeast Firs, and South Hills neighborhoods into a single neighborhood organization (Southeast Neighbors) that will include approximately 5,300 dwelling units within its boundaries. Answering a question from Mr. Holmer, Ms. Donahue said this action is not related to attempts to create neighborhood boundaries that are coterminous with ward boundaries. In fact, she said the ward boundaries bisect the newly merged neighborhood. Ms. Schue observed that ward boundaries in the area make little sense geographically. e Mr. Holmer inquired about the meaning of the term "official voice." Mayor Miller opened the pubic hearing. Bob Swank, 4050 Dillard Road, spoke as a member of the Southeast Neighbors Board of Directors. He said the merger would combine the resources of four different organizations and make them more viable. There being no additional requests to speak, Mayor Miller closed the public hearing. Res. No. 4131--A resolution repealing resolutions number 3101, 3796, 3 817, and 3871; withdrawing recognition of the Dunn, Southeast Firs, Oak Hills, and South Hills Neighborhood Organizations; and approving their merger into Southeast Neighbors.
