M <br />Interested Applicants <br />InterestedApplicants <br />9/26/2017 1:36:51 PM <br />Personal Interest Contribution <br />I grew up in Switzerland, first in Bern, later in Geneva, <br />both cities with vibrant, sustainable neighborhoods and <br />beautiful, active waterfronts. <br />As an architect with 30 yrs' practice in America, I am <br />passionate about and dedicated to design that promotes <br />a profitable economy, embodies beauty and <br />sustainability, creates vibrant neighborhoods, and builds <br />community. <br />As a businessman and real estate developer, I have put <br />this experience and passion to work designing and <br />building a beautiful new neighborhood community on <br />Friendly St and 28th Ave, with 25 compact sustainable <br />townhouses, to be followed next year by 6 small houses <br />and a small commercial building. <br />I love nature and I believe that the Willamette Riverfront <br />is a unique and incredibly valuable opportunity for <br />Eugene to connect our city to the natural beauty of the <br />river, while also building a center for our businesses to <br />grow and prosper, and for all Eugeneans to play, to <br />connect with each other and build community around <br />great food and drink, to shop, and to learn. <br />No Suoolemental Answers <br />Over three decades studying, experiencing and designing <br />environments, urban spaces, and architecture have taught <br />me to appreciate how well-designed urban spaces and <br />parks make great cities; I wish to contribute this personal <br />experience to the committee that will advise on the council <br />on the development of this unique urban resource. <br />Further, I am concerned by the degradation of our natural <br />resources and have dedicated my professional practice to <br />design that is restorative; I would like to contribute my <br />expertise in environmental research and education, and <br />sustainable design to the committee that will advise on this <br />environmentally critical civic project. <br />Finally, as a businessman with experience in running <br />successful businesses and building a lively urban mixed- <br />use development in Eugene, I hope to participate as an <br />advisor in designing a riverfront that will be a vibrant <br />center for urban commerce and economic success in our <br />beautiful city. <br />Page 56 of 112 y C7 <br />
