I have a personal interest and
professional background in urban planning and design.
Specifically, I'm excited about creating a mixed-use
pedestrian -oriented development with restaurants, retail
stores, and housing that invigorates our economy.
No SUoolemental Answers
There are three ways I will contribute to the Riverfront
Renewal Guides:
First, I have long-standing involvement in the city's
riverfront. This gives me historical and contextual
perspective. I believe the success of the redevelopment
depends in large part on providing safe and convenient
access to the site from adjoining neighborhoods along with
the complimentary development of adjacent land. In 2012
my primary motivation in joining the Active Transportation
Committee was improving access to the river by bicycle
and foot, so I'm intimately aware of the existing barriers
and opportunities available to improve access. In addition,
I've been involved with the planning and conservation of
sites neighboring the EWEB property since the 1980s—
including the creation of the East Alton Baker Park Natural
Area and the appropriate siting of ORI's flagship building in
the Riverfront Research Park.
Second, I have strong group process skills. I have training
in consensus, facilitation, and effective communication.
Even if I have differing opinions I'm able to work well with
people and find creative solutions.
Third, I'm widely respected in our community for my civic
involvement by city staff and people who have worked on
this and other redevelopment projects. My connections
and social capital in Eugene will serve this commission
well.
n
x
3
Cil
z
3
Page 44 of 112 y C7
