M
Interested Applicants
InterestedApplicants
9/26/2017 1:36:51 PM
Personal Interest Contribution
am an avid outdoors person. I love to fish, run, bike, ski,
golf, swim- anything that I can do outside in the great
area we live. I enjoy many things our city offers, dinning,
shows, arts and many local events put on in the area. I
have a very large interest in the direction that the city is
heading and specifically in the area of development. I
work a full time job for a large biotech company while
maintaining a large interest in real estate and
development being mentored by two leading
professionals in those areas. I take advantage of many of
the great things this area has to offer but I am also very
interested in the Eugene landscape and how it will be
changing over the coming years and would like to be a
part of how it is developed- and I believe I would be a
valuable voice of the community on this committee.
My fiancee, Allison Coughlin, and I have live in Eugene for
29 years and 24 years respectively, she having left out of
state for college while I attended the University of Oregon.
One of our main concerns about looking at the future of
Eugene is our city's ability to attract and keep a young
(millennial) work force. I believe this River Front renewal
project is a fantastic opportunity for the city, as well as for
current and future residents. I believe it will only increase
the livability of Eugene. It will expand the beauty of the
area, allowing more people to live, play, work and enjoy
this great area. I believe this is the exact kind of
development you need to attract and keep young people in
our community. I think this could be great area where many
generations (my own mother has expressed interest in
living in the new riverfront) can comingle and enjoy the
outdoors, art, dining, business, retail, family, community
and so much more. The close proximity to downtown
makes it ideal for people of all ages and I am really excited
about this project being completed.
I do not have any direct experience with development or
architecture but I do have a large interest in it. I have
worked for a small local business in Eugene as well as a
large biotech company where I currently work as the lead
quality control scientist. Through my work there I have
gained the skills to look at facts objectively and believe I
could provide good feedback to the mayor. I am familiar
with Williams\Dame & Associates' work as my sister lived
in the Portland Riverfront area for several years.
I understand the need for economic growth and
development and believe that it can be blended with
conservation of the natural beauty of area, landscape and
habitat. I believe I would be of benefit to the committee but
understand I may not have all the qualifications you may be
n
x
3
Cil
z
3
Page 97 of 112 y C7
