Preserving and enhancing the riparian
zone specifically, while stimulating livability and
commerce, is a challenge which entices me. I think
serving on this board will provide me the perfect
opportunity to increase my understanding of projects
with magnitudes such as this, while also exposing me to
the diverse needs of various community members. I want
to be a part of the Riverfront Renewal project because I
want to help rethink how the City of Eugene relates to the
river which adds so much to its identity. This project has
the potential to accelerate and define how the City of
Eugene grows and evolves for the foreseeable future. As
a lifetime member of this community, I would be thrilled
to have the opportunity to help set the course.
No Suoolemental Answers
The City of Eugene will benefit from my youthful energy
and critical questions. In previous experiences my ability to
breakdown systemic problems into digestible segments
has helped myself as well as my counterparts, understand
the whole picture more cohesively. As a Senior at the
University, and member of the Eugene community growing
up, I can help to voice the concerns of a variety of
constituents. As represented by my love for Fly-fishing and
participation in a Watershed Science & Policy course, my
oldest relationship with the Willamette River is one
characterized by respect and esteem for its health and
beauty. More recently my relationship with the river has
evolved by means of proximity and frequency of visits.
That coupled with my interest in urban development,
commerce, and sustainability, now has me excited and
invested in the future of the downtown's riverfront.
Particularly, my experience at the University will aid the
City in understanding how to empower young people in
what will be an extension of the University's campus,
geographically. In general, my curiosity and basic
understanding of a variety of fields, will aid me in adapting
to whatever role the situation requires of me.
Page 110 of 112 y C7
